Boys Will Be Boys

  1. 1 4 Star Rating: Recommended Kibitz Room (At Canter's)
    Read Reviews

419 N Fairfax Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90036 (map)

The small space attached to the famous Canter's Deli on Fairfax, next to a row of hip skater-chic shops, plays host to underground bands of all varieties. The bartenders are talkative and friendly. The scene is unassuming as well, making it a smart choice for you and your crew if you're looking for a low-key evening of quality drinks and live music.

  2. 2 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended Verdugo Bar
    Read Reviews

3408 N Verdugo Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90065 (map)

Glassell Park isn't home to much but sleepy rows of quiet houses. That, and this beer bar that stocks labels you won't find anywhere else in town. If you're a suds fans, it's certainly worth the trip; Ryan Sweeney, plays beer sommelier with the most here (as well as at Hollywood newbie, Boho) and clearly loves his job. The only signage out in front of the hunter green building reads "Cocktails" but this place is all about the buzzworthy brews.

  3. 3 4 Star Rating: Recommended Comedy Store
    Read Reviews

8433 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90069 (map)

With three rooms of comedy seven nights a week, this legendary black box on the Sunset Strip is where to check out big-name and up-and-coming comedians alike. Add cheap booze, fried food and a potential sighting of owner Pauly Shore, and you've got a guaranteed good time, bud-dy!

  4. 4 3.5 Star Rating: Average Laurel Tavern
    Read Reviews

11938 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604 (map)

Sure, this all-tap (there's no bottles, knucklehead) pub-style joint had its 16-beer microbrew selection chosen by a sommelier of the female variety. But she's hot, man. And that shouldn't stop you and the boys from bellying up to the bar--there's nothing girlie about a tall Bayhawke Honey Blonde Ale. The fact that none of their suds cost more than $6? Well, that just means you get to drink more.

  5. 5 3.5 Star Rating: Average Village Idiot
    Read Reviews

7383 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046 (map)

Forget romance, this noisy Melrose gastropub is perfect for some rowdy bromance. With a no-reservations policy and casual vibe, this is where to meet up with your crew for some good grub and local brews like Poppyfield Pale Ale and Craftsman Ale.

  6. 6 3.5 Star Rating: Average Belmont
    Read Reviews

747 N La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90069 (map)

If your idea of a guy's night does happen to involve a few females--as in, you'd like to meet some--this blue-hued La Cienega lounge is great for mixing company. A daily happy hour from 4pm-7pm usually fills the seats around the mahogany bar with good-looking 20- and 30-something singles. Plus, the odds only get better as the night progresses and the DJ booth flares to life.

  7. 7 5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended Ceniza Inc
    Read Reviews

260 E Colorado Blvd, Ste 225, Pasadena, CA 91101 (map)

There's a "Smokin' in the Boy's Room" reference in here somewhere, but we'll just say that if you and the fellas are looking to kick it with a premium stogie, here's the place. This Pasadena lounge boasts domestic and imported cigars, a VIP room, 72 private lockers and 3 LCD TVs. Your motley crew will love it. (See, we couldn't resist.)

  8. 8 3.5 Star Rating: Average HUSTLER Casino
    Read Reviews

1000 W Redondo Beach Blvd, Gardena, CA 90247 (map)

The ultimate (and perhaps last!) guy's night out, also known as a bachelor party, deserves a bit of excess. Prove you're best man material and take your buddy here where you can work the tables and party till dawn. Hustler impresario, Larry Flynt has jammed his SoCal casino with everything from poker and black jack tournaments to a satellite sports lounge and sushi bar.

  9. 9 3 Star Rating: Average Upper Manhattan Lounge
    Read Reviews

3600 Highland Ave, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 (map)

Did your Vegas weekend with the boys get derailed by an insecure broad? Salvage that sense of adventure at this South Bay lounge. It's all the best of Sin City--minus the gambling debt--with burlesque dancers and stiff, overflowing martinis. What happens in Upper Manhattan Lounge, stays in... well, that's between you and your friends.

  10. 10 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended Mastro's Steakhouse
    Read Reviews

246 N Canon Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90210 (map)

Corral your rat-pack into a booth at this posh Beverly Hills steakhouse. Feast on red meat in their old Hollywood downstairs dining room, then retire for a highball or a hearty glass of wine (maybe some skirt chasing, too) in the piano bar upstairs.
