VEGAN STEAK AND CHEESE SANDWICH: "The vegan steak and cheese sandwich is basically a vegan version of your typical "philly cheesesteak," with thick soy steak strips and dairy-free mozzarella, along with sauteed onions and mushrooms. Chango toasted the sandwich when I ordered it, so the bread was warm and crispy and the soy cheese was perfectly melty. For the steak, Chango uses Gardein, and for the cheese they use Teese from Chicago Soy DairyÂ…each being the best replacement out there for its animal-product counterpart. I can tell you, this steak and cheese sandwich was so amazing, even a meat-eater would fall in love with it." - Quarrygirl, Meat Is Murder

TACO BOWL: "Hugo's Tacos has a bunch of vegan options, but I really love getting this bowl and a side of chips to eat it with. The soy chorizo filling is so tasty, and the contrast of flavors in this--from the creamy guacamole to the tangy pico de gallo (my salsa of choice) and crunchy lettuce--is outstanding. I also love that they use white beans for the rice and bean mixture. Just make sure to get the bowl without the cheese, or order it with the vegan cheese. Hugo's tacos is fast, affordable and yummy!" - Kim Garr, C'est La Vegan

CAROLINA-STYLE BARBECUE SANDWICH: "This is one saucy seitan. Leave it to the clever macrobiotic crew to develop a zesty in-house barbecue gloss to go over a thinly sliced seitan sammy. Grilled onions and pickles add a nice amount of texture when paired with the fresh whole wheat bun, and the result is a filling, tasty flavor combo. Next stop: Dixie land." - Cadien Clark, City Editor

QUINOA OATMEAL: "Homemade oatmeal, mixed with quinoa and cooked with warm soy milk, is a healthy and hearty way to start the day. Mani's Bakery likes to garnish the top with fresh strawberries and bananas. It's a simple, filling, and naturally delicious crowd pleaser!" - Matthew Allard, Citysearch Editor

BLACKENED TEMPEH BURGER: "The Blackened Tempeh Burger at Seed Kitchen, a vegan, macrobiotic restaurant located just a block from the beach in Venice, isn't your standard Gardenburger-variety veggie burger--the house-made tempeh patty is topped with lettuce, onion, sauerkraut and mango salsa, and the wheat bun is slathered in a mustard-veganaise spread. The burger comes with a serving of tangy vinaigrette coleslaw, or you can order the delicious sweet potato fries or pomme frites on the side." - Kelly Wardle, Citysearch
