You know that commercial where the vacationing guy reclining in a beach chair tosses his cell phone into the pristine aqua sea in front of him? In this age of hyper-connectivity, we could all use a break like that. A non-profit think tank is advocating the second annual day of rest from the world of electronic communication on Friday, March 4 to Saturday, March 5, from sundown to sundown. Turn off the smart phone. Unplug your computer (that's right--no email). Forget status updates and tweets. The best way to unplug might be by getting lost in a good book (and by book, I mean a bound one made of paper, thank you very much).
The National Day of Unplugging begins and ends at sunset and the Getty offers one of the best views of the sun going down on Angel City. Make time to browse the collections and walk the gardens.
