LA's Fashion Night Out is one party you won't to want to arrive for fashionably late. In an effort to boost sales and ?put the fun back in shopping,? American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York created this global shopping event now in its second year. To celebrate Fashion's Night (FNO) here in Los Angeles, on the night of September 10 stores from Santa Monica to Pasadena will keep their doors open for after-hours shopping, in-store events and a gluttonous amount of free food, drinks and prizes. Vintage clothing shop What Goes Around Comes Around has an eventful evening planned for all those who stop by on September 10. As in ... booze and 'dos! WGACA has teamed up with the Hairroin salon to provide free hair styling for customers. They'll also have a DJ, dancing, and a trunk show by eco-friendly Alkemie jewelry. To entice you even more, everything in the store will be 20% off.
Downtown LA might be the future of Los Angeles, but set foot inside the Cooper Design Space during FNO and you will be taken back in time. For two days only this space will be home to the A Current Affair vintage marketplace pop-up. A $10 admission fee will grant you access to over 20 vintage retailers and private dealers showcasing rare pieces of jewelry, clothing, accessories and more. Music and drinks will also be provided.
Forget about buyer's remorse when shopping at John Varvatos during FNO because 20% of sales will benefit Art of Elysium. To further bring out the shopaholic in you, those who spend $300 will get their portrait taken by rock photographer Robert Knight. Knight's photography will be on exhibit throughout the evening and an acoustic music performance will provide the soundtrack for your shopping and viewing experience.
This WeHo retail destination has clearly put a lot of thought into how to make this night of shopping as enjoyable as possible. Knowing that time is limited and customers will want to get to other venues as quickly as possible, they will have Beckley pedicabs ready to whisk guests off to their next stop. Before zooming off, make sure you try a ?Diane Von Furstenburger,? get a hair touch up by a Warren-Tricomi stylist, and take advantage of the store discounts.
During FNO, Alpha men's store will pay homage to the fashion bible that is Vogue. The shop's windows will be adorned with live ?voguers? who will be striking poses all night. Grab some cool male gear while listening to music by DJ Vinnie Vin and sipping refreshing drinks by One Coconut Water. Of course, there will be all sorts of discounts and door prizes, too.
With a huge bar in the back of the store, Live! On Sunset is always hosting some sort of fabulous party. It's no surprise then that they've put together a great event for FNO. Guests can check out the denim studding and custom T-shirt screen printing by Hit + Run. You can also catch a live performance by pop/rock group Chase Jordan at 8pm.
Come September 10, fashionistas will want to take off those heels and run to BCBG for a chance to win a trip to New York Fashion Week in February 2011. Browse the store's luxe new fall collection while sipping Champagne. Every $250 purchase includes a free travel case and a chance to win the trip to New York.
Participants in last year's FNO, Fred Segal threw the party of the night. This year they'll surely deliver another fun-filled evening of shopping and socializing with showcases from LA designers, photographers and artists. A big draw will be Larry Leight, owner and president of Oliver Peoples, who will be stopping by with vintage 80s specs that have never before been for sale. Levi's will also be launching a six-month pop-up featuring LVC (Levi's Vintage Clothing). There will also be drinks, music, photo booths, and a Magnolia Bakery pop-up shop with a special cupcake just for FNO. Sweet! This just in: The Dandy Warhols will be performing a live set during the event!
The fashion mecca that is Rodeo Drive will without question be the place to be on September 10. Each store (there are 77 participating) will be hosting their own in-store events from cocktail parties to giveaways. Once your hands are heavy with shopping bags, head out to the street where you'll find a four-story Ferris wheel and Fashion Rules, a life-sized board/trivia game that pairs celebrities and designers. Bonus: Seven food trucks will be on hand including The Grilled Cheese Truck, Frysmith and the Sprinklesmobile.
The Century City mall is really getting into the spirit for this evening of shopping. Practically every store will be offering discounts, free gifts, food and drinks. Some shops, including Kate Spade and BCBG, will also be holding contests for great prizes. Spend $200 during the event and you'll get a $40 Westfield gift card and access to the mall's Fashion Lounge. In the lounge you'll be able to feast on food from Pink Taco and sip on wine from Malibu Family Wines. When the evening comes to an end at 9pm, grab a seat for a viewing of Lagerfeld Confidential on the mall's outdoor screen.
Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and Vogue West Coast editor Lisa Love host the Beverly Center's night of shopping. Making it official, Mayor Villaraigosa will also stop by for the opening ceremony at 5pm. Stroll from one shop to the next while enjoying free drinks, numerous fashion shows, and sales and promotions. Keep your eyes peeled because there will be plenty of celeb sightings. From Angelica Huston serving margaritas to Perez Hilton and Stephanie Pratt hosting a fashion show, you never know who you'll bump into in the dressing room.
Pasadena might be a far drive for some, but making the trip for One Colorado's FNO event will be well worth the gas money. From 6pm until 11pm, all of One Colorado's shops will be joining in the fun with free samples, beauty consultations, fall fashion previews and libations. Before you embark on your shopping journey, be sure to stop by the courtyard to pick up your VIP Passport (free swag bags for the first 200 people). Get this passport stamped at five locations and make a purchase at one of them (if not more) and then return the passport to the courtyard before 10:30pm. At 10:45 there will be drawings for great prizes. Your passport will also get you a free cupcake at Dots Cupcakes who will have a special flavor just for the evening. Other highlights include fashion shows in the courtyard and Brazilian food, music and Mardi Gras masks at In SoHo.
Racked, the retail blog that is likely every shopaholic's homepage, is joining forces with Decades Two for a night of cocktailing and shopping at the Melrose shop that specializes in high-end, pre-owned items. Up for grabs will be ?400 dresses for $400 or less." Guests will also have the chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree and a personal styling session with owner, Christos Garkinos.
Two words: Justin. Timberlake. If on the night of September 10 you hear screams coming from the newly opened Nordstrom at Santa Monica Place, don't be alarmed. Chances are it's just women clamoring to meet JT who will be hosting a VIP in-store shopping event to launch the new eyewear and footwear collections for his William Rast line. Gawk at Justin while enjoying 901 Tequila cocktails, listening to DJ beats, and maybe even winning raffle prizes. Venture away for more in-store discounts, consultations and free gifts. There will also be a $2,500 shopping spree and one-year Vogue subscription for a lucky winner. Did we mention Justin Timberlake will be there?
On September 10 from 6pm-9pm, Sunset Plaza will be hosting the ?Sunset Plaza Passport Event? where shoppers can visit participating retail stores and collect gold stars that will enable them to enter a drawing for prizes ranging from $250 gift cards to clothes and accessories. Participating stores will have giveaways, music, hors d'oeuvres, drinks and discounts. Be sure to stop by Badgley Mischka, BCBG Max Azria (already on our list!), Buttercake Bakery, Calypso St. Barth, Catherine Malandrino, Claudio Milano, Code C, H. Lorenzo, Nicole Miller, Nicole's, Sunset Kids, Traffic and Zadig & Voltaire. The City of West Hollywood is providing free shuttle service during the citywide event.
