No cuts, no color, just blowouts. Hidden in the Brentwood Gardens strip mall, this Drybar location is the one that started the whole craze. The winning formula? Cute decor (a modern mix of white and yellow replete with mirrors, refreshments, magazines, purse hooks and even iPod docking stations at each chair), a menu of five $35 blowout styles (from a loosely curled Cosmopolitan to a sleek and smooth Manhattan), tempting extras like a Floater (ten-minute $10 scalp massage) and discount packages for regular barflies.
A great blowout job for just $30? In Beverly Hills?! That's right. Located next to its older, bigger brother Joseph Martin salon (the place where Peter "Perfect" Ishkhans holds a post), this new space has the name recognition of its A-list predecessor, but keeps things decidedly more wallet friendly. Simply tell the stylist what look you want and voila! Washing is included, of course, but flat ironing or curling are $5 extra. Walk-ins are welcome, but we recommend booking with Bernard--he aims to please and delivers. (Plus, we're suckers for a cute Irish accent.)
This hair bar right across from the famed Anastasia eyebrow salon offers blowouts for $35, completed in about 30 minutes. Sit in one of the eight chairs in the simple white space and choose from five styles including The Perfect Blow (a wavy, bohemian look); Morning After (voluminous, tousled "bed head"): the loose and curly Romantic Affair; and a super straight Slick Lick. There's even a His Blow for guys. Um, yeah.
Located inside/adjacent to Makeup and Go, a full-service makeup studio and gift shop for girls on the go, Bubble Blow Dry offers the finishing touch before a night on the town (or a day in the office). For $35, one of the stylists will wash, condition and style your hair in about half an hour. Just be aware that adding curls kicks up the cost considerably--it's $15 extra to break out the curling iron.
Yes, we know it's another Drybar. And why shouldn't it be? This empire is blowing out new spots around SoCal practically every other month. The second Drybar to open (in late September '10), this cute and clean Valley locale keeps the great $35 blowouts coming. Swing by on the weekend between 10am and 2pm for a "Brunch Blowout" and enjoy a free mimosa and croissant. Cheers!
