Here are our favorite 24-hour restaurants--yes, they do exist--to guide you through the late night fog.

But don't worry, with a packed house at almost any hour, plenty of hangover helpers, and cold cut sandwiches piled to roughly the height of Gary Coleman, there is more than enough to keep you awake and alert for that late night excursion ... or to send you off safely (and satisfied) to dreamland.

Mel's Drive-In
Read Reviews8585 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90069 (map)
What would a who's who of the round-the-clock culinary scene be without Mel's. This place has the history and the iconic look that made it famous with insomniac eaters way back when. Still serving up the famous Melburger, chili fries, and shakes that made it famous, this place had the 24-hour diner down before everyone else decided it was cool. Whether you're a Sunset Strip clubber, a good old-fashioned American family, or just a passerby, all are welcome (and expected) in this classic slice of Americana.
