Chiweenie 90210: A Beverly Hills Dog Day
Updated: September 30, 2008
Before there was "Beverly Hills Chihuahua," there was ?Bananas: The Beverly Hills Chiweenie." Half Chihuahua. Half Dachshund. All 90210. We asked this North Beverly Drive resident of 21-dog-years for the inside poop on where to eat, shop, lick and chill in the BH.

Beverly Hills Mutt Club

"Like any self-respecting Chiweenie, I like my fashion. How embarrassing to be dressed in anything off-the-rack ... so I insist upon the canine couture at Beverly Hills Mutt Club. The name is a bit unfortunate, for I am certainly NO mutt. But where else can I bark for Mom and Dad to get me a shiny new collar or designer wardrobe?"

Sprinkles Cupcakes

"While my Dad swears by the chocolate buttercream Artie Lang Cupcake up the street at Crumbs, I prefer to brave the line at Sprinkles and chow down at least one of their $2.50 doggie cupcakes whenever I'm in the 'hood. They're all-natural, made with unbleached flour, eggs, honey, vanilla and topped with carob or yogurt 'frosting.' (I don't know why they put the quotes around 'frosting' but I suspect it's sorta like the way people write 'lite' instead of 'light.') Warning though: Unless you're ready to chase a ball or your tail for an hour after eating one of these bad-boys, your girlish figure could suffer."
Luckyfish--CLOSED

"Truthfully, I prefer matzah balls to sushi any day of the week, but since Nate ?n? Al?s is still clinging to their archaic (and discriminatory!) bi-peds only policy, my go-to lunch spot these days is the extremely four-paws-friendly Luckyfish on Canon. While most prefer to nosh on the rotating conveyor belt sushi, outdoor dining is more my speed and the Luckyfish patio in front offers excellent see-and-be-seen BH ambiance. Make sure to get an order of the spicy tuna on crispy rice and tell them Bananas sent you."
