In Short – Yamashiro's spectacular backdrop and grand architecture pleases the crowds. Built in 1911, the grounds are an exact replica of a palace located in the Yamashiro mountains near Kyoto, Japan. The pagoda, koi pond, polished teak and million-dollar views are intoxicating. The menu--featuring specialties in each course--includes twists on Japanese fare like the grilled saffron seafood and tuna encrusted in sesame. Sushi items include tuna, sea urchin and albacore sashimi. –
The drinks are good at Yamashiro but the food isn't worth it

Yamashiro has an awesome view of LA, there is no denying it. We spent a good half hour taking pictures in their garden. Our drinks tasted pretty good but the food!! Ugh. I got the Darth Vader sushi roll which looked like a brownie and tasted awful. I took one bite and ate at McDonald's later. I'd come here for drinks again but I would eat dinner beforehand!
- Pros: The gorgeous view and the sangria.
- Cons: The food and the prices.
The Food ...The View.....The Service....OH MY!

My wife and I went to Yamashiro a couple of weeks ago and had a great experience. The view was amazing and the service was great.
We shared a few dishes including a variety of sushi, filet mignon, and the grilled seafood. Everything we had was incredible and our server was very helpful in helping us decide what to order.
I appreciated that the filet was cooked to order AND the server came back about a minute after the filet was delivered to make sure it was cooked properly.
We each had a martini and they were mixed PERFECTLY. For dessert we shared the Smores...fantastic!
I can't wait to go back! It's rare to find a restaurant that has everything going for it....but Yamashiro does.
- Pros: Quality of food, service, location
- Cons: There isn't one in my backyard.
Fake!

Yamashiro is just another example of selling out Asian food to make a quick buck. The views and architecture of the restaurant are amazing, along with the koi pond. However, the food? Not only it is overpriced, it tastes as plain as eating at a fast-food Yoshinoya's! I suppose the reason for the expensive food prices is so that they can pay for the location and the staff. If you like great views with mediocre (overpriced) food, this is the place for you. As for me, let's just say Siyanora Yamashiro!
