good food, very nice place, flat beer, great turkey burgers, great classy joint, like seems, nice waiter
THE FOOD, AND THE PIANIST, GUILHERME SCHROETER GREAT COMBO !.
I love the hamlet hamburger, when I came to Los Angeles, not only because the food, but because the PIANIST, GUILHERME SCHROETER - that plays film pop and CLASSICAL LIKE A CONCERT PIANIST !!!
He performs thursdays, fridays, and saturdays, there (6 to 10pm), as well mondays, tuesdays and wednesday (sometimes sundays) at MICHELANGELO-SILVERLAKE (2742 Rowena Avenue 90039) piano !!
He is the only one pianist that not only play jazz (like any pianist in los angeles) but also capable to play like Liberace, film themes arranged mastery, the golden era music, pop famous themes, and ever arrangements from OPERAS, and SIMPHONIES!!
Good Food. Hamburger Hamlet is a great lunch spot. The food is really good, the place is very nice and the bar area is rather large. Happy hour is always fun. Not much else to say…good food and you should try it.
Great food, classy joint. Good place for lunch, although it can get expensive. There's a HUGE bar, so you can grab a drink for happy hour or during lunch! You can check out the celebrities too (I saw Joan Collins today!)
Somewhere between fine dining and fast food lies this upscale burger chain..
The Scene
The first Hamlet opened on the Sunset Strip in 1950. After gaining success within the Hollywood community, the thriving burger joint opened franchises across the Southland. In recent years, the chain's popularity has ebbed, but thanks to friendly service and an old-school atmosphere, the remaining spots see a steady flow of families and locals.
The Food
The chain updates its traditional Americana menu with Cajun and Mexican trimmings, but the hearty ground-beef delights are the Hamlet's mainstay. The Just Plain and Delicious burger is exactly what the name implies--six ounces of juicy beef garnished with lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion. Other burger concoctions come with decadent toppings--ham, bacon, sour cream--but why clutter charbroiled perfection with anything more than a slice of cheese? Beyond burgers, there's creamy lobster bisque soup, loaded Cobb salads, and roasted chicken. Desserts lean toward the basics--chocolate cake, ice cream--and easily serve two or more.
Casual with very good food. A place with character for sure. Get the 1/2 roast boneless chicken..
A classy but not pretentious joint with comfy booths etc. Opt for Tap Room. Don't be surprised about who you see here.
I LOVE the 1/2 roast chicken. Tender and BONELESS. (How do they do that?) Perfectly seasoned. Service was from very experienced staff and was timely and attentive. Parking is next door. give it a try. I was dressed very casually...in jeans and short sleeve shirt. Not a problem. This is California. Sort of an "old timers" place. Very consistent.
Great food. This place never fails to please us ( myself,my hubby and two kids ) We like to sit in the Tap Room, no reason, we just like this room better. Our kids love the huge chairs if we're not seated at a booth. They have the best Split Pea soup and their burgers are great. We love that they have a kids menu. We can't stand restaurants that don't. The decor in the Tap Room is somewhat dated, and if your looking for a hip fun enviroment you won't find it here, but if you want good food and pretty good prices this is the place. We've always had good servers, one waiter we had recently was a little grouchy, but like my son says...how can someone be mean to you if you pour on the kindness, so that's what we did, and once he opened up he proceeded to tell us that basically the whole day he had really rude customers !! Ya gotta try this place...oh yeah, how can I forget? the desserts are good too.
Great sit-down comfort food. The Hamburger Hamlet is located near the far end of the Sunset Strip near Beverly Hills but is well worth the trip (walking or driving). This is comfort food done right. The booths are swanky, though a tad uncomfortable. I love the mini-burger sampler and the various desserts. Don't go on a diet. Portions are large. My extended family loves this place, one of the few cheap but seemingly upscale feeling chain restaurants in Weho.
Nice Place For Lunch.
I've eaten here a couple of times for lunch during the work week and will keep coming back until I have a reason not to. There's plenty of seating and quick service. I ordered the asian potstickers from the appetizer menu last time and they were so good I had them again today.
There's a big variety of menu items and the booths are roomy and comfortable. Celeb watchers may be in for a treat....
Just Another Average Experience. This was my thrid visit to this location for lunch. Each time I've gone the service was exactly the same slow and unattentive. You order your food, they bring it to you and they almost never come back, until the check of course. It didn't even look busy at all? Yet, we found ourselves waiting forever for a refill of our drinks. The waiter was nice, but was missing in action the majority of the time. The food, ah it was just ok. Definetly overpriced for what you get. I ordered the grilled chicken pasta alfredo. I've had better pasta elsewhere at a better price. Seems like for ever to get your check as well. It was just another average experience for this place, which will keep me from going back there again.
Eat in the Tap Room and don't get sassy with the hostess!. This is definitely not gourmet food, but is fun nonetheless. The hostess, who will inevitably tell you she used to be married to Miles Davis (you don't have to ask her, she will just tell you. She has rarely failed to tell us after almost 10 years of going there) can be sassy, but if you stay on her good side she will seat you in the tap room, which is more fun than the other rooms. One quibble: for a place with a "tap room," they have a really bad beer selection. If I remember correctly they only have their own beer and a few beers like bud light on tap... kinda lame. And their own beer is not very good and somehow always seems flat! What gives? They do have a large menu full of American staple foods. Good turkey burgers with red peppers in them.
