not best place, great inexpensive food, good drink, great pizza, diverse people, rude waitress, not best service
Worst Experience - Be Aware!~This person is a fruad. Ok, I actually am the one that waited on this table & I remember them. They came in on a Friday night which anyone that has ever been to the rainbow knows is CRAZY!!!! There were 6 adults & 2 small children (never bring your kids into the rainbow on a weekend after 10pm, they will get stepped on ) I approached their table with a smile and instantly warned them (as I warn all my tables on Fridays and Saturdays) that all food was taking 1 hour-an hour and 1/2, but I would do my best to keep the bread basket & drinks full until their food was ready. They said Thats fine, they weren't in a hurry. They were just there to eat at the famous Rainbow & see some rockstars. 20 minutes when I brought the table the 4th basket of bread they said "Where's our appetizers?! We've been waiting for over an hour!" All waitresses have to write the time of order at the top of the food check for exactly this reason, I showed them that it had only been 20 minutes. I apologized and reminded them that food takes over an hour on the weekend, I said the appetizers won't be ready for another 10 minutes but I could bring them their salads. The kitchen was SLAMMED!!!! So I PERSONALLY out of the kindness of my heart, stopped what I was doing (having 7 other tables at the time) and MADE THEIR SALADS MYSELF. There was no glass I assure you, or else I would have cut my hand. We don't keep the lettuce or any other salad fixens anywhere near glass, & no one else that night, before or after complained of glass. They must have put it in the salad themselves to get a $300 free dinner. I did my best to make sure that they had an enjoyable experience at the rainbow as I do with all my customers. The rainbow has great food, but on the weekends it is so packed with people partying that it is not the best place for families. Quiet days are Mon- Wed 11am-9pm. Party days are Thurs- Sunday 9pm-2:30am. Please don't let this fraud scare you, come see for yourself.
Totally Awesome!. Well I love this place, but that's probably because I am in love with all 80's, grew up in the 80's and still think it was the best fun time...though I don't live in L.A., Rainbow is a must go-to everytime I visit. I tell all my friends you can't walk out of there without stumbling. And yes Lemmy does in fact hang out there, Friday nights are the best night's to go. The dance floor is a bit small and not as many people dance, so this is definately a place for drinking and socializing and spotting out a musician here or there, and it's so fun to see people still dressing like they are in the 80's rock scene. I haven't had the food yet, but I heard it's the best pizza..I highly recommend this place if you are a fan of the 80's rock scene.
My Second Home. I am a big fan of 80's rock & there is no where else in the world where you can go have a killer meal, cheap strong drinks & listen to Shout at the Devil while you eat. The rock scene is dying all the clubs have been taken over by hip hop and tecno junk. This place is a "safe haven" for rockers & porn stars alike just like it was in the 70's and 80's. Mario the owner is amazing, he has a million stories all interesting and hilarious. Jesus the bartender is friendly & quick and will make you the stiffest jack & coke in hollywood. Drinks are very cheap and strong. The pizza is killer as well as the Chicken noodle soup. I recently had the Steak and lobster that was great too. Best Hang out in the World!!!
HOG HEAVEN. GREAT!!!! I ENJOYED IT A LOT! IF YOU WANT GREAT FOOD, COME HERE!
Metal Head Hang Out. UGH! The chicks are absolutely scarey at this famous dump. However if you just have to see a mullet then this is your place. Looser central. There is nothing cool about this place other than the fact the Lemmy from Motorhead and his mole are there all the friggin time!
Lots of Fun. Great place with lots of character that's lots of fun. Perfect for a dinner amongst friends who like to drink and act rowdy. Chances of seeing an old school rocker are high so make sure to keep your eyes peeled. Not for those seeking finer dining but for those who just want a great place to eat, drink and be merry.
Weird layout. Went here to hear one of my girlfriend's friend play. The bands play upstairs but once you get there, the stage is actually on a lower level, kinda like in a cage. And you can barely see them. It was an acoustic set so there weren't that many people, luckily. Otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to see the singer. The restaurant itself is classic, gives it character.
Rock ON!. I spent 13 years at the Rainblo - Rainbow - and loved every minute of it. It's best Sun-Thur. Fri and Sat the tourists come out and act like idiots. During the weekdays, it's the locals only, and we're like family. Steady, Mario, Michael, Lemmy, Aldo, Slash, Krigger, all the upstairs vamps - there is no other place like it. Love it Love it LOVE IT!! Oh ya - get the chicken soup and bread, or the spinach salad or the fried zucchini sticks - Excellent. The pizza is a bit greasy, so flatten your napkin over the top to soak up the grease first. And don't forget your Jack Daniels and Coke! ;-)
ROCK SOLDIERS!!!!!. this place has great pizza and great drinks. rainbow has a mix of different people. there are those that still think its 1983 in full rock soldier gear: bullet belts, black leather jackets and pants. when you are there sya hi to Lemmy, he was a GOD playing ms packman ( im not sure if the game is still there) cool guy laid back, a fixture at the rainbow. you got the whole cross section of hollywood here, everyone on their way up and on their way down. the rainbow is a landmark and is still i nice place to visit.
Heavy Metal Hairdo's. and 80's metal music is what keeps this place going. I am sure they are thinking it will come back in style again. It's been around for ages and the place is still packed almost every night. Food leaves a little to be desired....certainly not Spago quality but if you are nostalgic for some Guns & Roses and a few good drinks this is the place to be.
