The oversized, shiny coffee cup on its logo is the first tip that this Sunset Strip mainstay is a far cry from its former life as Duke’s Coffee Shop, a diner known as much for its mediocre food as it was for its soggy floors and overall dinginess, replete with a bathroom that smelled of cedar shakes. Still, regulars were of that exceedingly devoted daily lunch variety, many of them paparazzi-hounded celebrities and rockers, some of them in the photos lining the walls. Now the LPs no longer hang from the ceiling, and the joint has gotten a lot more than a fresh coat of brightly colored paint, a…
Editor's Tips
- Parking:
- Can't find a spot on Sunset? Park in the lot behind the restaurant for $1, with validation.
- Look Good:
- Duke's is located at what used to be London Fog, a club where the Doors played nightly in the mid '60s. For more rock-and-roll history, head next door to the legendary Whisky A Go-Go.

Horrible food RUDE people
by christy_david at Citysearch
This place is a joke! I don't know who would give these jerks their hard earned money. The food was greasy and horrible. The staff acts like they don't want to be there and are annoyed by having to wait on you. SUCKS!
I love Dukes!

I tried this place a few times and think they have a great establishment.
Very nice employees they have working for them.
The food did take a little longer than usual to prepare and get to you table but I was overall very impressed.
Worest Experience Ever

The business is under new management and the quality of service and food has changed. Dukes delivers which is great, however the time that you spend waiting on the food to get to you along with cold fries and old lettuce isn't worth the wait.
- Pros: Close to work
- Cons: Bad service

How an you not love this place? An all around LA classic! Great breakfast anytime of day and the remodel is beautiful. Good burgers too and amazing staff. Very bright inside. Better choice than Norm's or even Mel's in my opinion.
- Pros: great breakfast anytime of the day
- Cons: parking
