good food, slow service, beautiful dinning experience, like mirabelle, fun decor, great everything, nice atmosphere
My standby place for west hollywood lunch.
The pros and cons say it all. The chopped salad is my favorite in the city- get it with the chicken, love it for the blue cheese and candied walnuts. When I am feeling particularly starving, I add in a side of hummus, almonds and pita. I rarely stray from these favorites. When a meal satisfies a craving again and again, it has to be quality.
The ambiance is a bit dark, but a pleasant respite from the hubbub of Sunset.
If you get the chopped salad to go, make sure to ask for a healthy sized portion, otherwise it is fit for a size 0 and really aren't we all Kings?
Great Food and Great Service!. I visited this restaurant during my lunch hour and I received amazing service. I had the vodka penne pasta, it was delicious! I even got a chance to speak with the owner of the restaurant and he offered me a free dessert!!! The waiter was great and very attentive. The food was amazing and served hot! I will definitely visit again
Pretty Decor, Dry Turkey.
I enjoy Steve Martin. I like that he's had white hair for as long as I can remember, and that he's hosted SNL a bajillion times but was never a cast member, and that his last movie was a rom com where he smoked pot and made out with Meryl Streep. However, my favorite thing about Steve Martin is that he wrote "Shopgirl," a novella about a mousy young lady named Mirabelle who falls for a smooth, rich older man, and then cast himself as the smooth, rich older man in the movie adaptation. (Boy was he smooth though, guys. He bought gloves from her and then secretly sent them to her as a gift!) Jason Schwartzman was also in the movie, which is notable only because everything Jason Schwartzman-related is notable.
Mirabelle the restaurant is totally the kind of place that Mirabelle the character would dine at with smooth, rich older men. It's managed to retained its stuffy fancypants-ness in a hip part of the Sunset Strip. Since I was there for lunch with my coworkers, I ordered a turkey burger with fries. The turkey part was kind of dry, but that's how turkeys are designed and that's how I like my burgers. That way it doesn't get soggy when I eat the other half for dinner as a side dish to my three mini dinner cupcakes. If I was there with a rich, older Steve Martin-type of man I probably would order something classier, like white wine and a complex salad. The restaurant is also nice for this sort of situation because it's kind of sunken in below the level of the sidewalk, so you feel like a sort of mole creature peering up, and it's good for discrete situations in case your friends walk by and you don't want them to see that you're out with a man old enough to be your father, or an ex-con, etc.
Mirabelle has never disappointed me.. I work pretty close to Mirabelle so I often make it a lunch destination. Flavor is king, of course, and I'll get to that in a second but I also like Mirabelle for their atmosphere. It's never too busy at lunch and we love to sit in their enclosed patio. When it comes to food I'd highly recommend love their Braised Rib Sandwich for my meat lovers and my fish lovers should get the Baked Salmon Salad. Nom nom!
Great!!!.
Beautiful dinning experience, great decor, lovely and delicious food!
I enjoyed how nice the waiter was. He seated us right away. I loved the bread.
My quesadilla was yummy yummy goodness
I've never tried spinach tortilla before and when I did, it tasted sooo good
In short, Very Good Prices, and Service for real Delicious Food
Everything Was Great! I Walked Out Feeling Great With A Big Smile On My Face
The Most Fantastic Veggie Sandwich. Choosing Mirabelle for lunch was a spur of the moment decision. A coworker and friend of mine and I decided to go somewhere nice for our meal, since it was a gorgeous Friday afternoon and we really did not want to go to boring Subway yet again. We surveyed the lunch menu that included salads like a classic Caesar, a chopped salad, a salmon salad, sandwiches, wraps, and pastas. One of the kind popped out from the restaurant after a few minutes, very warmly greeted us and told us the specials. My friend was lured in by the delicious tune of chicken quesadilla and kobe burger on the lunch specials and I agreed. We were treated with the kindest and most prompt service imaginable. My friend ordered the chicken quesadilla special while I ordered the veggie sandwich that is on the regular menu. We received a basket full of warm slices of fresh bread, a cold dish of butter, and another dish of olive tapenade. The second I tasted all three in combination, my mouth nearly exploded from delight. If the bread and appetizer were this good, I couldn’t even imagine how good the actual meal would be! And I was surprised at how quickly the food came out. My friend and I happily chomped away at our meals, her chicken quesadilla, my veggie sandwich. The bread on my sandwich was pillow-soft and the grilled vegetables added rich texture while the pesto sauce accentuated the flavors of the vegetables. My friend said that the quesadilla was great, as well, and indeed, it looked quite stuffed with plenty of cheese, chicken, and a healthy amount of guacamole and sour cream on the side. All the while, we had attentive and caring servers rounding out the entire amazing and delicious experience.
Crab Bisque = AWESOME!.
This place is close to our offices and has become a regular lunch spot for my coworkers. They always seem to have an awesome selection of lunch specials during the week, and the portion size is enough to share.
Our favorites include the crab bisque, chicken dijon sandwich, sweet potato fries and the burger. Great service and friendly wait staff make this a great place to grab lunch during the week!
Best Greek Salad in the Hood. This is a great local lunch place, its across from our office in W Hollywood, and I religiously get their greek salad at least once a week (with grilled chicken). If you like greek salads, this is top notch and done classic style. Enjoy
A very good Happy Hour. Check out the review of this and many other happy hours at: happiest hours(dot)blog spot(dot)com - no spaces between words, but City Search won't allow it any other way. We loved the interior of this open, airy place, and the service was incredible - fast, friendly, seemed happy to be working there. Unfortunately, because it is also sort of open air, a few parties were smoking (which ruins any space in which I'm trying to enjoy good food). We had two martinis (one Greek and one watermelon) which were GREAT, calamari, hummus, the cheese plate, and they brought out bread, butter and tapenade, and for two of us it was $30 plus tip, so we left forty. The calamari was so-so, but the hummus and cheese plate were both very good. Here's the problem - the prices on the drinks are very good, but the appetizers were barely discounted from the regular menu. Still, we left sated and happy for twenty bucks each, so can't complain. Worth checking out. We'll probably return soon.
Sunset Boulevard's favorite "subterranean" hot spot has become more than just a cocktail destination..
The Scene
Walk down the handful of steps at this Sunset standby and enter a world of elegant dining with a touch of kitsch--Andy Warhol would dig the '80s-inspired lip-shaped sculpture. The glitzy pre-nightclub set sticks to the bar, while industry-ites and B-list celebs clutter the adjoining open-air restaurant and patio. Fresh seafood, daily oyster specials and classic entrees are the backbone of the American bistro fare. Jalapeno-spiced calamari is served with forgettable cocktail sauce, but the meaty blue crab cakes paired with tangy papaya relish and sweet chili butter are a hit. As an entree, tasty herb-encrusted Chilean sea bass, served on a bed of ratatouille, is a fish-lover's dream. The generous slab of grilled New York sirloin couldn't find a better companion than truffle mashed potatoes. Lamb lovers will enjoy the Colorado rack, simmered in its own rich juices and served atop a creamy pistachio risotto.
