decent greasy food, like lowkey place, horrible service, huge menu, mediocre food, not very attentive wait staff, cold beer

West Hollywood institution with a checkered past is still a go-to dive bar for karaoke and other things that require liquid courage.
The most manly sports bar in boyz town. The food here is fun and the decor is classic. I love the chicken wings.

Barneys is a fun place for old-school American and international comfort fare. The menu is gigantic - some favorites are the buffalo and barbecue wings and the chili sampler tray. Full bar, pool table and party patio. Lots of rock n roll history.
Wouldn't Recommend it..
Barney's Beanery dooms itself by having too many items on the menu - it's not ideal to boast about the 1,000 items available. No restaurant can do Mexican, American, fusion Japanese, 24-hour breakfast (and more!) well. Despite the huge menu, there's a shockingly small variety to choose from for dessert.
We decided on the most unique-sounding item: chocolate pizza (crispy pizza dough with melted chocolate, topped with sliced strawberries or bananas and powdered sugar).
"No, don't order that, it's terrible," the waiter said after we tried to order. "I don't know why it's on the menu, it's probably the worst thing on there." (This actually happened.)
He then went on to recommend the homemade ice cream sandwich, so we ordered one, along with a slice of apple pie. Both desserts were good, but nothing special, which is a good way to sum up Barney's. Seems like a fun place to get a beer, not to eat.

Great food.
So I've seen this place enough on t.v. that I thought I would try it. I don't live in LA, so I went there while visiting my sister.
The inside looks exactly as it does on t.v. It's got the whole car motif going. It's not my style, but it's consistent throughout the place. I guess they have multiple locations and I'm assuming the decor is the same throughout all locations.
The food was great. I love chilaquiles and it takes a heavy hand to mess that up. But I think it takes a knowledgeable hand to really make it great. The chilaquiles were near exceptional here. I would give it an 8 out of 10. My sister had the breakfast burrito, which was also very good. So overall very good food, decent price. Worth the trip.
Best chili in town. I go there for the chili. That's pretty much it. You can have it just about any way you like. Just meat, add beans, guac, sour cream, double up on that cheese. Deeelish. The potatoe skins are nicely done too. The place is a dive, but kind of a nice dive, it's like a deliberately marketable dive. Bar food, but well done bar food.
Best Happy Hour in Town!.
This place is a LA staple and a must for anyone in town visiting.
They have roughly 30 draft beers and run happy hour 4-7pm 7 days a week. They have 1/2 off well drinks and $3 all drafts and 1/2 off selected appetizers.
If you’re going to watch a big game try and get there early.
Overcharged twice!. I do like this place, however it really annoys me that the last two times I went they put a whole bunch of extra drinks on our tab, thinking that we wouldn't notice them. Last night the waitress added 3 Bud Lights on that we didn't have. When I told her, she was very nice and apologetic, knowing that she had been caught. This isn't the only bar in has overcharged us either. In the past two months This has happened to me 4 times!!! (2 at Barney's, once at Stinkers, in silverlake, and once at the Golden Gopher downtown). It just seems like really shady business, and I think that it may be illegal to charge someone, something they didn't get.
Can't wait. I saw this place on tv the other day. It looks very promising and social. I Can't wait to go mingle will the locals.
Cool place, but expensive for a casual bar. I like this place, it's always fun and it's not super hard to find a table to sit down at. However, I think the prices are a little to much for the kind of place this is, which is a bar that you would come to in jeans and sneakers. They have a huge selections of beers from around the world and yummy, greasy food.
Casual classic hangout. I have only been to the one in Pasadena but I think it has the exact same feel. The staff is really friendly, especially if you are a semi-regular. They are great about taking care of you if you take care of the staff and have a good time. It gets crowded to get really great service all the time, but mostly they do a good job making sure you have a full beer and plenty of food. Their asian wings are phenomenal!!! They have tons of different beers, huge menu, and lots of memorabilia. This is a great hangout with great happy hour prices, decent food prices, huge menu, and lots of beer. Definately stop in. Tell Melissa (the really cute blonde bartender) hello!
Trashy people only..
The waitress took too long in taking my order. Too long in having my food on the table. I paid with my check card. I kept it open for a next beer. Time to go. She lost my card. After 10 minutes she recovered it. No apologies, nothing.
The place is loud as hell, trashy people, greasy food, classless ambience. I guess this is what americans like.
I will never come back.
Good for group lunch outings. The Beanery in West Hollywood is a bit of a walk from my workplace but well worth it. They have nearly unlimited choices on the menu, enough so that I could find healthy choices when in the mood. Service is good too, and the beer selection is awesome. During the day, it's pretty easy to get a table. I imagine that's different at night, but I've never been so won't speak to it. The food is prepared in hearty portions and most items are quite good. Surprisingly, even their veggies are tasty. I'd recommend a stop at Barney's for some good stuff.
