The Scene
What was once a ratty neighborhood dive frequented by beats, hippies and Jim Morrison is now a ratty neighborhood dive full of sports fans from UCLA. The cavernous interior hides many cozy nooks from which to watch the game. The infamous anti-gay policy was done away with a long time ago, but for a bar in the middle of Boys Town, you'll find a pretty straight crowd. Expect friendly folks who appreciate old-school scruffiness. Saturday nights can get crowded.
The Draw
Barney's offers a huge menu of comfort food: 150 different burgers, 65 chilis, 90 omelettes and much more. Also, 50-cent pool games, popular karaoke nights and an excellent happy hour keep the crowds happy. With 50 beers on tap and several hundred in bottles, this is a hops-lover's paradise.

The waitress took too long in taking my order. Too long in having my food on the table. I paid with my check card. I kept it open for a next beer. Time to go. She lost my card. After 10 minutes she recovered it. No apologies, nothing. The place is loud as hell, trashy people, greasy food, classless ambience. I guess this is what americans like. I will never come back.

i'd probably never normally choose to come here -- too sportsy and fratty for me, but sometimes i've gone w/a work group. it's good for happy hour and greasy fried stuff and beer if that's what you're in the mood for. sports fans like it. lots of history.
Pros: happy hour, cheap
Cons: too fratty, greasy food
