Editorial Review for Basix Cafe – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Anchored by a huge sidewalk patio, Basix exemplifies the WeHo tradition of people watching with one's mouth full. The neighborhood clientele is lively, and tables are close enough to allow easy eavesdropping. The health-conscious menu teems with salads, pastas, pizzas and panini sandwiches. Chicken fettuccine comes in a spicy jalapeno-cream sauce, while a thin tri-colore pizza is a sampler of three popular toppings. Side dish faves include the black bean-turkey chili and crispy house-made potato chips.

Breakfast is served from 7am till 3pm daily, and offers build-your-own-omelettes, four kinds of pancakes, and the cafe's popular reduced-fat egg white "power specials."

What to Drink

Try one of the bar's creative twists on champagne: blood-orange mimosas, white peach bellinis or cranberry kirs.

This is a great place to eat brunch, lunch, or dinner. I've eaten at Basix countless times, and it is reliably excellent. You can always count on superb cocktails. Their mojito and their cosmopolitan are my favorites. The menu selection is vast and their food is reliably good. Their club sandwiches are tasty and huge. Their skirt steak with chimichurri sauce is *amazing*. Their brunch food is likewise very good across the board. I like their eggs benedict and their crabcakes benedict. Another nice thing is that they allow you to replace your french fries with fresh vegetables or a fruit medley that's not just fruit out of a jar but really fresh and tasty. Finally, the waitstaff is always friendly, and the service is prompt. They have a great location in a pleasant part of West Hollywood, and their outdoor patio is great all year round.

Pros: drinks are great, food is reliably good, service is prompt, and the patio is fantastic

Cons: none

If parking was easier, I'd be a regular here! The food is great, the service is great, and the patio makes for a great atmosphere. I love the goat cheese salad!
