favorite band venue, great show, favorite place, always amazing sound, famous people, favorite bands, like more laidback concert environment
Historic LA venue that has featured some big name bands. Great space that is roomy yet intimate. Cool front bar that you can hang out in between acts.
Just something about it. The Troubadour is a nearly perfect venue. Intimate atmosphere, balcony with a swell view, and a great bar to boot. But I think what I love most about it is the feeling of being part of music history. This stage has seen the likes of Elton John, Randy Newman, and James Taylor. Not to mention that John Lennon once got ejected for heckling a band.
More than 40 years of live music has made Doug Weston's lounge an L.A. landmark..
The Scene
One of L.A.'s oldest clubs, the Troub established its reputation hosting singer-songwriters and rock bands. After an uncharacteristic stint hosting heavy metal in the '80s, it rebounded in the '90s breaking acts like No Doubt and Gomez. The all-ages policy means varied crowds, but a full bar ensures the over-21 contingent will feel right at home. For a bird's-eye view of the small stage, head to the bench-seating balcony. VIPs make their way to the Loft, where there are plenty of comfortable couches to sit on while watching the show through the window or on the television monitors.
The Draw
The club reached legendary status in the late '60s and early '70s, when it served as a springboard for artists like Tom Waits, Emmylou Harris and the Eagles. Music lovers relish the opportunity to catch future superstars before they start selling out amphitheaters--recent case in point: The Killers.
My favorite LA venue. Awesome atomsphere, friendly people, great acoustics, laid back. It's so cool to have new bands playing there because it's intimate. I've spotted famous people at VIP balcony watching the show. The security guys are cool.
Ah the Troubadour.
Ah the Troubadour,
So many great shows seen there. Small intimate atmosphere, balcony overlooking the stage, large bar...but the best thing is the bands they get. The Troubadour consistently books the best bands. It is quite nice to see your favorite bands close up.
The Club with the Best Sound. I've always been a fan of the Troubadour. Whenever a cool rock band comes to town, its a bonus when I hear they're playing the Troubadour. The sound and acoustics at this place are better than any small venue in the Hollywood area. For a small club this place also has three separate bars. One in the front so you can get juiced up before the show. One inside for drinks during the show and if you get a balcony pass they have one up there to.
sounds good to me. The Troubadour has one of the best sound systems for a venue of its size. I've seen a few rock shows there and was very impressed with the sound quality. I saw some famous people hangin out there too!!!
Great sound and view!. The best thing about this place is that you can sit upstairs and still enjoy a great show or you can go on the floor and dance, kick, punch whatever floats your boat. Oh yeah I almost forgot, you stage dive you go home.
