Editorial Review for Bodhi Tree Bookstore – by Lowell Goodman
The Scene
If your idea of a page-turner is "Macrobiotic Cooking" and you like to kick back by reviewing the basic tenets of Eastern philosophy, this is the bookstore for you. Step inside, inhale the sweet smell of the aromatic candles, grab a free cup of tea and make yourself at home among books on topics ranging from astrology to zen. The staff here is friendly, knowledgeable and unobtrusive. When you're done shopping, a resident psychic will divine your future.
The Goods
The Astrology section here is bigger than the fiction aisle, so it's not the place to pick up the latest Danielle Steel. But the selection of books on subjects like Eastern spirituality, meditation and metaphysics can't be beat. Round out your feng shui with a wide array of candles, soaps and other home accents.

If all roads lead to the top of the same mountain, consider the Bodhi Tree a highway atlas. Floor-to-ceiling shelves in this spiritual bookstore house texts on most every tradition, practice, divination method and healing modality imaginable. You'll also find CDs/cassettes, jewelry, incense and tarot decks in healthy supply. Knowledgable staff members here are patient and helpful--rumor has it they meditate together at the start of each shift.
Pros: Variety of subjects, Used books in back, Complimentary tea
Cons: Lousy parking
