Editorial Review for Il Bistro – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
Situated off a cobblestone alley marking the end of Pike Street, Il Bistro offers intimacy amid the bustling market. Curvy entryways, discreetly placed tables and low lighting contribute to the seductive ambience. Service is swift and polite.
The Food
Rack of lamb has been the signature dish since day one, and it justly deserves recognition. To start the evening, a tantalizing sauté of calamari with basil, tomatoes, garlic and red wine vinegar is impressive. Among pastas, the Conchigilia (angel hair pasta in a champagne cream with asparagus and tomatoes, topped with seared scallops) is a winner. Meats and seafood receive respectful, simple treatments: Chicken breast roasted with garlic, imported olives and oregano and balsamic-drizzled king salmon served aside a bed of arugula offer worthy alternatives to lamb. Dessert caps off the evening--the chef's signature tiramisu arrives moist and decadent while the silky panna cotta is easily devoured within seconds.

We had fantastic service and the food was phenomenal. We've been back a few times over the last year or so and it's always been very consistent. Great little cozy and romantic location. Intimate bar. Great wine list.
Pros: Food, service, wine
Cons: hard to find but worth it

A bit hard to find but well worth it. Tucked under the newstand at Pike Place Market. One of Seattle's best kept secrets. Food was outstanding, service quick but not pushy, Our server, Melanie, was cheerful, and knowledge about the wine list and specials of the day. Good value for the cost. Cozy spot for couples to dine.
