Editorial Review for Agua Verde – by Hannah Levin
The Scene
Vividly colored walls and a perpetually crowded entryway are the hallmarks of this casual Baja-inspired cafe. Tucked discreetly behind the University of Washington's marine biology buildings, the refurbished waterfront house attracts budget-conscious students, professors and kayakers (kayaks are available for rent below the main dining room). Lunchtime service is cafeteria-style and the evening waitstaff is often overextended, so don't expect attentive service.
The Food
Do expect the best fish tacos available in Seattle. Whether the decision is for spicy catfish, grilled halibut or salmon, all come with fragrant, handmade tortillas, creamy avocado sauce and generous accents of cilantro and pico de gallo. The side dishes are equally impressive, especially smoky, chili-spiked whipped potatoes and cumin-scented black beans. Seviche, bright with lime and brimming with bay scallops, is an excellent starter, but don't miss the unique margarita interpretations, including the Tuna-rita, a classic 'rita infused with prickly pear cactus juice.

At Aqua Verde, you may have to wait in line to order, but it moves quickly and gives you time to decide what you want. This is a great casual mexican spot on the water with killer food and great service. Lots of vegie items (including all sides), but if you eat fish - go for the fish tacos (fried fish). After paddling, be sure to grab a bite here and enjoy the view.
Pros: Tacos, tacos, tacos

I love Agua Verde. Sometimes we have to wait for a table but that is fine because it is well worth is. I love the deck. It has a great vibe. The food is fresh and original. I have never felt rushed or unwelcome. It is great for a night out with friends.
