Editorial Review for Cafe Flora – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
Since 1992, upscale, earthy crowds have been escaping Seattle's gray days in the cheerful atrium dining room, lush with plantings and a natural-stone water fountain. Boisterous families are as likely to visit as romantic couples, with multigenerational celebrations a regular occurrence.
The Food
Reliable standards include spicy Oaxaca tacos and a meatless-but-meaty-tasting portobello Wellington. Because the menu changes weekly and some of the cuisine is quite creative, follow the servers' recommendations. For dessert, even the vegan selections are rich and moist. The popular brunches are served with a complementary shot of fresh orange juice. Don't miss the beignets with berries and ginger creme anglaise or breakfast quesadilla. Service, though often rushed during brunch, tends to settle down for lunch and dinner.

I really liked this restaurant. I've enjoyed the food each time I visited, and I appreciate how creative the chefs are, given this is a vegetarian restaurant. I am a vegetarian, and it's great to have more protein options. Nice atmosphere.
Pros: Food, ambience
Cons: Parking

I have been to Cafe Flora three times, twice with my husband, and once with a large group. All three times were spectacular! The yam fries appetizer is amazing. I think it's the chipotle aioli that makes it great. I ordered the sage polenta twice and it was outstanding. The sauces they make from scratch are perfect. My husband had the tacos which were really rolled up crispy tortillas. He thought they were great. I love their ever-changing seasonal menus. Their wine list is good too. Now the desserts. MMMM! We had the cheesecake with a port wine reduction sauce. To. Die. For. I have dreams about this cheesecake. And on top of all that, the service is top notch! When we came in with the large party, they let us make a reservation even though our party was one less than the minimum requirement (they only take reservations for parties of 8 or more), and then they held the nicest table in the house for us despite multiple requests for the table from other patrons. The server never got frustrated with us even though two members of our party didn't speak much English and we all stayed until half an hour after closing time. I very highly recommend Cafe Flora to everyone. Veggies and non-veggies alike will love it!
