Swiss-precision truffles that could put a dent in a Swiss bank account.. Sweet Story
At $50 a pound, the sweet treats at Teuscher Chocolates of Switzerland are worth every penny. Although a cent won't get you much, the lovely counter attendants will conspire with you to get the most out of a more affordable quarter pound. Situated on the corner of Brighton Way and Camden Drive in the heart of tony Beverly Hills, the Teuscher shop is adorable, with merchandise spilling out everywhere. There are tables outside for chocolaty leisure, a walk-up window for a hot-liquid gulp of the elixir of the gods, and tiers of chocolate salvation for mix and match selection. Candy is flown in regularly from Zurich.

The Goods
The house specialty is the narcotic champagne truffle, filled with dark-chocolate cream and French champagne creme. With a milk, white or dark center, a "plain" truffle is just as intoxicating. Even humble pieces such as the cookie-like chocolate pretzel will excite your mouth with Teuscher's quality.

Great chocolate and wonderful for gifts. Teuscher's not only has excellent chocolates (the champagne truffles and the gianduja chocolates are really good), but they also have beautiful gift boxes. They make tons of varities of boxes, in different sizes and shapes, and with different figures on top. For my sweet sixteen, I had Teuscher's make me single-truffle boxes with hand-made, life-like birds on top, to give my guests as party favors. Everyone simply loved them and they've all held up in great condition to this day.

Truly Extraordinary Chocolate. Teuscher elevates chocolate to such heights that it seems almost to be an entirely different food than everyday chocolate. Teuscher's chocolates are to Godiva's or See's what either of those two are to Hershey's Kisses. That is, Teuscher is just an order of magnitude better. The quality is incredible. Of course, the price is in keeping with the quality. Teuscher is not a "steal" or a bargain by any means. And, sometimes a Hershey's Kiss will do quite nicely. But, for those special times when only truly extraordinary chocolate will do, head to Teuscher.
