In Short – Hot spots cool fast, but Mr. Chow has held the eternal flame of see-and-be-seen dining since 1973. The decor is stark and modern, and the vibe is clubby and buzzing with energy. Chic diners squeeze into tightly packed tables along a center banquette, while larger parties and A-list celebs gather round more spacious tables along the wall. Servers are professional and lightning-fast, whisking away plates as soon as fork touches china. The menu offers fancy and pricey versions of Chinese cuisine classics. Solid starters include won ton soup with a clear, robust broth, and steamed…
Mr Chow sucks!

avoid at all costs!!!!!
after being to the LA and NY restaurants of the Mr Chow chain, i was in London with my parents and decided to take them out for crispy duck - i was stupid enough to take them Mr Chow, simply because i had had good experiences at their LA and NY restaurants years ago.
What a lame, terrible, humiliating experience it was: the maitre d', a Brazilian by the name of Marcelo, took my simple order of "crispy duck for 4" and transformed it into a tour de force where i never managed to touch my crispy duck. this cheap (as in low and diselegant) restaurant probably wanted to make some extra pounds on my bill, so the emmigré dumped everything on the menu. i tried cancelling the duck but he made me a doggy bag which i never touched (obviously!).
stay away from decadent restaurants, avoid Mr Chow.
- Pros: ripped off at Mr Chow
- Cons: terrible service, bad food, decadent

I've been to Mr. Chow now about half a dozen times with either a client or a friend visiting from out of state. It's by far one of the most impressive dining experiences around LA. The energy in the place is very contagious and you are surrounded by a cool group of people. But what keeps me coming back here for special occasions is the food. The gnoochi with oysters is unbelievably delicious, the drunken fish is another fav and Mr. Chow noodles is a must. I always end up staying longer here because the high energy vibe makes you feel a bit like you're at a super chic party.
- Pros: Atmosphere, food, and best energy
- Cons: The wait
