In Short
This tiny cottage-like space has been one of the sweetest spots in Beverly Hills since first opening its doors in 1997. Owned by Farshid Hakim, a pastry chef who honed his skills at the Hotel de Paris, the cozy nook is where local families and traveling sweet tooths head for French classics like baked tarts, cupcakes, seasonal desserts and, of course, macaroons that change with the season. (Think pumpkin spice in autumn, egg nogg in winter and lavender in spring.) There's also a few savory options such as omelets for breakfast and sandwiches like the Croque Monsier for lunch.

I tried a wide array of the pastries here that the owner reccommend for me and I have to say they are probably some of the best desserts I have ever had. I tried the fruit tarts which were burst of freshness in your mouth. I also had the cupcakes which very moist and fresh. I am very impressed and will be back to try the lunch.

The reviewer who ate the cupcake and left without paying and then proceeded to diss this French bakery needs to read "French or Foe" by Polly Platt and get educated to French culture.

You really would never notice La Provence just driving by it. I used to live down the street so I was able to stumble upon this charming place. Ignore the strip mall facade, order in the quick line and then grab a table outside. The food never dissapoints: fresh and delicious with innovative daily specials. The coffee is good and strong and the baked goods, including cup cakes and macaroons, rival any other's. In fact, I was once addicted to their coconut and red velvet cupcakes which are both very moist and not too sweet. I've since moved so I don't go to La Provence as often. And I've managed to drop the extra cup cake weight. However, they are opening a second location around the corner from my new home this Fall so I must learn to restrain myself. Another great thing about this place is the inventory of gifts. In a pinch you can pick up a candle or a cake stand as a gift. I also found a pair of antique salt and pepper shakers here that I've never seen anyplace else.
