Mirage Beauty Center. Rip Off Salon! Avoid it at all costs! These people rip you off and they should lose their license.... In the summer of 1998, when I was 28-years-old, I made the mistake of going to the Mirage Beauty Center. I asked for a layer haircut. I showed the hairstylist a picture and she assured me she could do the job. She did a horrible job. Instead of layering my hair, she cut part of the back off. She said that it looked like that because I needed to do a wave. I was against it because, at that time, I used Punky Colors semi-permanent dye on my hair. She assured me it wouldn't do damage. I paid for the cut and paid up front for the wave. My hair was ruined. I even tipped her. I wanted to cry and went home. 5 blocks away, I realized my hair felt like a Brillo pad. I went back to the salon to complain, but they closed early. The next day, I took time off of work to ask for my money back so my regular stylist could fix my hair. (I had to chop it off). The man behind the counter said I would get no refund. I told him I didn't see a sign that said no refund. He said he was willing to give me store credit. I demanded my $90 bux back. He threatened to call the police if I didn't leave. Got nowhere. Went to the Beverly Hills Court House to file a claim, but I worked for a finance firm that demanded my time and I couldn't follow up. They ruined my hair and stole my money. NEVER, EVER, EVER GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS. I'm surprised they are still in business. At that time, the only recourse I had was to complain about them on the internet. Since then, I have posted my story about them wherever I can to warn consumers about them. They really should lose their license.

Price Gouge. Walked in for a bottle of biosilk. The lady at the desk quoted the price of a 5.64 oz. bottle (which was conveniently unmarked) as $29.00. I went ahead and purchased it, then called the beauty supply store that I usually shop at. They told me that the same size bottle is priced at $22.00. I called Mirage Beauty Supply and asked about returning the product I had bought less than an hour before and never used. I told him that the beauty supply store down the street charges $7.00 les than what they charge. I know I should have done my research but I thought the difference in price would be a couple dollars at the most. I did not realize that Mirage Beauty Center would price gouge. The man I spoke to said that I could only get store credit. They do not have anything on their receipt or in the store that claims you cannot return the product. Needless to say, I will never shop there again.
