My favoriate. This is one of the best places to see a movie if you just want to sit back and have a good time. It could use a remodeling, but I go to see the movie, so I dont really care about the wall paper. I take my kids here all the time. I dont know about you, but its expensive to take your whole family to the movies. I hope people continue to support this place. I would be sad to see it go.

$1.00 HOT DOGS!. THEY HAVE LOWERED THEIR PRICES TO $2 BEFORE 6 AND $3 AFTER. PLUS THEY NOW HAVE HOT DOGS FOR A BUCK!! CAN'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THAT. THERE SEEMS TO BE A WHOLE NEW STAFF WHO ARE WONDERFUL TO TALK TO. THEY REALLY SEEM TO LOVE TALKING ABOUT FILM. I TALKED TO THE MANAGER ONE NIGHT AFTER MY FILM WAS OVER AND HE TOLD BE ABOUT THE BIG PLANS THAT THEY HAD FOR THE PLACE. NEW PAINT JOB AND A REMODELED CONCESSION STAND ARE BEING PLANNED. THERE ARE A FEW NEW PROJECTORS THAT WERE INSTALLED LAST YEAR TOO. THEY EVEN MADE THE PLACE MORE WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY TOO. THEY SEEM TO BE TRYING TO PUT SOME LOVE BACK INTO THE PLACE.

IT'S 6 BUCKS. The pricing is cheap and that's what you get, but really this is poor. Only go if you really don't want to pay for seeing the movie you are going to see. One theatre has the screen to the left centered of the the seats and there is a pole in it. Actually...the bathrooms are nicer than the theatres themselves.

One of the Last of its Kind. This place could definitely use a makeover, but not if, as a result, they stop showing films that are hard to find elsewhere. They show a great mixture of art-house and mainstream films that are no longer running elsewhere. For instance, I want to see Wallace and Gromit (at the time of this review--11/27/2005) and this is the only place it is playing to my knowledge. However, the service is below par and the place is very dreary-looking.

hey, matinee. The rows are cramped, the seats are lumpy and hate your butt, and the parking lot scares little kids...but the selection of just-past-premiere movies is wonderful. Double-features = a great value, and the Academy remains one of L.A.'s most consistent foreign + indie film supporters.

No no no!. I just saw Kill Bill there. The projection sucked outrageously, the whole left half of the screen was a jumping blurry mess. We were nice, but when we reported the problem they were no-can-do defensive. Kind of a feel-bad place.

My best guess is that it's the type of place that makes *bank* by treating workers like crap and neglecting repairs -- and hides behind a pretense of "indie" to get away with it.

Not good for seeing movies, not good for the community, not good for the reputation of indie theaters.

Plus they show out-of-date mainstream features, not indie films. Save your six bucks and go rent the dvd.

Not worth the risk. Why would anyone want to actually go in this place and sit down? Just let it die.

Favorite Theatre in Pasadena!. I have seen Amelie, Magnolia and The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys here. There's never a long line and always a good movie to watch. Check the showtimes before going. There's a parking lot in the back.

support indepenence!!. Please support this kind of theater a bit of a dump (but in all the right ways) but with lots of heart and great movie selections. Plus the movies are always six buck. You cant beat that price!!
