The Scene – Despite Hollywood's well-documented fickleness and perpetual quest for the "next hot thing," this Art Deco treasure has remained a celebrity hangout for over 75 years, drawing everyone from Charlie Chaplin to George Clooney. The tallest building in Los Angeles when it was built in 1924, this ritzy 8,000-square-foot sprawl has undergone renovations that have only magnified its former glamour. The enormous billiard hall-cum-nightclub has three expansive, ornate ballrooms linked by a maze of equally spacious lounging areas. The distinct vibes of each room evoke every possible…

Friday's 'Peep Show' is on!

by this_guy at Citysearch

Bridging the gap between Thursday's Perversion and Saturday's Bar Sinister (both Goth nights, to the unannointed) is the new night Peep Show. Very cool with 2 big rooms with good light shows and great djs that keep consistent bpms. One room is Goth/Industrial (think Nitzer Ebb, Skinny Puppy)and the other is electroclash/nu wave/techno (Goldfrappe, Peaches). Low attitude and a pretty diverse crowd - not everyone is in black vinyl or look like they're from the East Village. Only problem: the outdoor patio (good) doesn't let you bring your drink outside (bad). Peep Show is definitely worthwhile. Verdict: I'ts on!

  • Pros: great music, big dancefloor, good light show
  • Cons: no drinks on patio, price a 'lil steep

A bit overrated ...

by myung at Citysearch

For all the hype surrounding the architecture and decor of this building, one can barely see it past the smoke that is rather suffocating. Nonetheless, you've got a club that has a convenient waiting room right when you walk in, which is always good for friend-waiting. Alongside that, make sure you go on the nights when the billiards room is open. Otherwise, pretty good mix of music, but hardly a return trip for any real club enthusiast.

  • Pros: good parking

Giant Disappointment

by nomad_31 at Citysearch

Giant invites some of the best DJs in the world and has among the best set ups of any club I've been too. However, for such a big event the club is one of the most disorganized that I've been to. The place doesn't have enough restrooms. We actually had to form a line in the club to get into another room. Once we got into the room we couldn't get out of it or we run the risk of not being able to come back in. The crowd is great and so is the music. But for such a pricey fee, Giant needs to have higher standards.
