What People Are Saying About Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk

In Short – Part of the Hollywood landscape for over twenty years, the amphitheater hosts virtually any live act large enough, or wild enough, to fill the stands. Alternating between a full-fledged music venue and a host of other formats, Universal is a chameleon among larger venues, hosting the occasional dance troupe or film festival. Festival crowds are also huge, considering that Universal hosts both the annual BB King's Blues Festival and the Latin-themed Watcha Festival.
A More Intimate Concert Setting Than The Big Venues
by svantico
I've seen plenty of concerts at the Gibson (formerly the Universal Amphitheater) over the years and I've never had a bad experience. Since I live in North LA County, the first plus is that I didn't have to drive for miles and miles to see a decent concert. It's second plus is that it's much more intimate than places like Staples Center or Honda Center (or the Forum and Sports Arena in decades past).
The seats all the way to the side of the either side of the stage aren't great and I'd rather not see the concert than sit there, but I am definitely planning to come to the Gibson in the next couple of months to catch a show.
- Pros: Smaller Than Many Venues, Convenient
good experience

I attended my first concert here (John Legend), and let me tell you, it was great!! The place isn't like a stadium, it seems more intimate than that, although it's still pretty big. The acoustics seemed good. I was sitting in the very back, pretty much, but i was still able to see John Legend, which was more than I could ask for. I'll definitely come back again.
- Pros: can see from anywhere
- Cons: expensive food like in any arena
Niceeeeeeeee`

The Universal Amphitheater is big enough to hold a decent crowd. And small enough for that intimate feel. It has easy access into the place and its basically hassle free. Also the food is pretty reasonably priced. No higher priced than your basic movie theater. The only price gauge is the parking which is $8 dollars. And when you go up there they hassle you if you want to get premier parking? For 5 more dollars! So 13 bucks to park an extra 5 feet? No thank you! The good thing about this Venue is that while you wait for the show to start you can spend and hour or two down at citywalk! The time will go by real quick as you shop the night away before a star studded performance to set the sky on fire! :)
- Pros: Citywalk, Easy Access, Nice Venue
- Cons: Parking
