Editorial Review for Six Flags Hurricane Harbor – by Lee Parker

The Appeal
Located next to Magic Mountain, this park offers a wide array of up-to-date pools and slides for thrill seekers of all ages. An extra-attentive lifeguard staff and a festive, bright design help make it a SoCal favorite.

Fact and Features
The Black Snake Summit boasts five dizzying speed slides, two of which reach an altitude of 650 feet. (You'll need to rent a raft for this one.) Daredevils will also enjoy "escaping" from the Taboo Tower through a dark, spiraling tunnel. There is plenty here for the youngsters, too, including the Lost Temple Rapids, where the entire family can raft downstream together, and the tame Castaway Cove play area, featuring cartoon creatures, gentle waterfalls and water guns. Perhaps the only drawbacks are the long lines; take a break from them by going on the easygoing River Cruise, a wait-free, surprisingly enjoyable voyage that winds through the park.

The Extras

Lockers, rafts and water tubes are available for rent. Rafts are required for some rides, and a double tube can keep the kids close.

... from Magic Mountain. On one hand, it's newer and thus, cleaner and less depressing. On the other hand, water parks are the worst thing ever. I'm not a huge fan of walking 'round collecting sunburns and delicious snacks (such as Dip n' Dots). Actually, I am a huge fan of that last thing - snacks.

This is my favorite park so far. They are always adding new attractions for the thrill seeker yet there is a nice assorment of rides for the kids as well. With a rollercoaster park and water park right next to each other you can buy discount passes for both and get coupon books that make it really afforable for an entire family. When I get done I feel like I lived in a fantasy for a day.

Pros: New Rides, Old Rides, Rides for kids and adults

Cons: Not enough bathrooms
