Unsatisfactory Beauty Experience. hey I know it's a chain, so maybe others don't suck as much. But I visited about a month ago on a Sat. nite and the experience was most unsatisfactory and the beauty was not much found, but definitely crowded. Both women and men bartenders dissed servicing us for extended periods of time and when the Martinis were made they were extremely watered. We changed bartenders after the first round and achieved much the same service and low quality both times. Nail service was busy and confusing with waiting list or something going on.

Good service. Came here on a Sunday night, and it wasn't that busy. had good 80's music, and the people were down to earth and friendly (including the bartend who made good drinks). The space is spread out, and it isn't as cozy as it could be. Its not easy to mingle with all the floor space (its all one room with a small smoking area in back), maybe its more crowded during the weekend. The NYC one is more cozy, better music (they have an actual DJ), and the bar in back is very nice.

Fashioned For All Styles. Even though the Beauty Bar in San Francisco is an atrocious experience, LA's version is a neighborhood gem. The staff is amazing and the people are an eclectic blend. Sure, if you spill a drink, you may be screamed at by a Beautiful Person: "These pants are dry clean only! DRY CLEAN ONLY!!", but the Converse All-Star / Addidas shoe count still holds strong at 40-50%. Smokers are herded into the back room, but still can enjoy the party. I'm a big fan. Oh yeah, and go during a weeknight.

So Hollywood. Went early with my girl friends. Must recommend the "Perm," it was yummy! Got our nails done, good job. People were smoking inside in a back room, bad. Lots of punks, rockers and even a transvestite. The guys were rude and tried to feel every girl up as we walked by. Good music but no one was dancing!

Mid-Week Beauty Make-Over. Great Mid-week Boost by catching a drink at this bar. Nice beats to accompany a chilled out crowd. If you have enough of the generous drinks, set the dance floor on fire. Great spot for a Wednesday night, mid-week date/drink. I've come here multiple times and always had a good time.

Manicure and Drinks - You got to love it. Perfect location for gatherings. For $10.00 you get a drink and manicure, or a drink and hena.

It's really fun, clean and orginal.

Puts the Beauty Back in Drinking. If you haven't been, the experience is worth it. Get there early for a manicure and a martini to warm up for an evening out on the town. This is the perfect place to take visitors be they male or female.

Essential Tourist Stop. I always bring out-of-town friends here. Even though there are sister properties in NY and SF, it's tres LA. The crowd can be heavily pretentious and disproportionately female, so it's not the kind of place you want to spend too much time, but do stay long enough for a manicure. Ten dollars buys your first beverage plus a scaled down treatment (no clipping, no cuticle work -- just a basic hand massage and painting). If you buy another round, you can apply the money towards a Henna tattoo.

The only thing I don't like about this place is the smell. From the moment you walk in the door the stench of nail polish remover is all you will smell. By contrast, it almost makes the second hand smoke in the back room desirable.

Bring out of towners. Fun place to kick it with your girlfriends. Had a fun time with some friends visiting from out of town. Don't expect a full manicure now, it's basically just a polish and lotion rub for your hands. Strong apple-tinis to boot. Yum.
