Elegant, superior korean food in serene setting

by paulinhosong at Citysearch

Korean food falls into the quasi-korean bbq you will find at gyu-kakus of the world, to down and dirty bbq restaurants you will find in korea town that are great but you need to shower after. And then there are some like woo lae oak in beverly hills where the food quality is high and presentation is lovely, but the flavors are so toned down that you dont even reak of garlic, etc. when you leave. Being of korean descent i have lived in manhattan for 13 years and los angeles for 7 now, and i can say seoul jung by far is the best korean restaurant that i have been too anywhere. The food is top notch, the environment is clean and pretty non smoky, and service is not as brusque and rude like it will be at more traditional restaurants. I like ordering a la carte here, but their 10 course emperors banquet is great too, you just need to order a day in advance or so. Many people think yongsusan is the best korean in town, but i dont agree. Try this place, though it is closer to downtown than koreatown in the wilshire grand hotel.

Great Prime Angus Beef/ Rotating Marple Sculpture

by laguy1 at Citysearch

This place is super classy, I think it's reasonably priced. I have definitely had cheaper Korean BBQ, but never as nice a place as this. Marble Tables, and Amazing service. My girl had the Galbi Beef, i had the chicken, the side dishes (Plentifull) were good too, and our waitress was really nice, the tables even have a smoke filter so it's not as smoky as some other K-BBQ places that dont have these high end tables. It's located at the Grand Hotel, which is a really nice hotel as well.

  • Pros: Yummy, Great Service, Great Ambience

Excellent Korean Restaurant to Impress

by bitter_cynic at Citysearch

It's a bit expensive, but worth the money for the ambience. It's a classy gourmet restaurant. Definitely not a hole-in-the-wall type of place. I disagree with the other review. It's not Americanized. It's very upscale, so it's more modern and urban than the typical Korean restaurants in LA that are earthy and traditional. I am Korean, and I brought my very picky grandmother and my sister for dinner here. We all enjoyed our meal here. I have had less enjoyable meals in Seoul if you want weird fusion food, but that's another topic.

  • Pros: tastes harmonize, great food, excellent service
  • Cons: expensive, must valet park
