In Short – All the neutrals in Calvin Klein's palette flow together at this sleek-surfaced deli on the fifth floor of Barneys New York. The interior dining area is set up with mahogany tables and on the terrace seats are shaded by large umbrellas. The classic delicatessen menu features bagels slathered with creamy chopped liver, cinnamon-laced matzo brei with berries, cold poached salmon and brisket of beef. Various fresh salads are also available, and salty whitefish is flown in fresh from NY.

Save Time:
Regardless of the time of day, the takeout counter is often swamped. Simplify your life and call ahead to place an order.

  1. While the view is lovely and the food is nice it's not worth spending the money to be treated like a second class citizen by people who are supposed to be making your experience a favorable one.

  1. The fish isn't as fresh, the bagels are flown, frozen, from NYC -- and mostly defrosted, and there's no chocolate babka.

  1. It's rather unconventional for a New York-style, but the food here is fresh and tasty.
  2. I've been going there since they opened and the food is very good but after the atrocious service I received recently I'll never return.

  4. Firing an employee who gave 5 years to the company over a tweet about an irresponsible and rude celebrity who full well deserved to be publicly called out.

  2. very small table, with our huge breakfast plates--the ridiculousness of this concept, given the table size, was laughable.

New York in LA

by andy66

If you miss Barney's in New York, then this a good place to go. Perhaps, the service is more on the politeness scale of a New York deii. Great New York style bagels and loz.

Terrible Actress chosen over 5 year employee

by Deveren Werne

Do not know if I ever want to eat there....because if you are waiter or waitress you can be fired for tweeting about a celebrity who cant pay the bill nor can they leave a decent tip. The waiter who was fired may not know how to use twitter or the internet but I do......... :)

Thank you

Bad corporate policies

by wju

Responsibiity got it perfect!!!! Companies and their management are so far up celebrities butts that employees and real people are treated like 6th class citizens. Jane Adams and every other "celebrity" deserves to be called out publicly and humiliated for being rude, selfish, self-important, arrogant and down right stupid. Barney Greengrass management needs to learn that good employees are hard to find. The waiter that got fired for standing up for himself and tweeting the truth deserves a very public and generous ($$$) apology for your arogance and stupidity.

Shame on Barneys!!!

by Responsibility

I am disgusted that celebrities are treated better than "regular" customers and/or employees. Firing an employee who gave 5 years to the company over a tweet about an irresponsible and rude celebrity who full well deserved to be publicly called out...(Jane Adams)...is inexcusable! Especially in this recession, not to mention the fact that we are in the wireless age. Shame on Barney's management! Shame on the company as a whole! Join me in boycotting this company until they learn to treat both "regular" customers and employees with the same respect they give to celebrity customers who do not deserve to be treated with respect! Look up the employee's blog "How to succeed as a failure" J.A. skipped out on her bill, paid it through her agent the next day (no tip) and then after hearing about what she did on twitter came back to the restaurant to pay the tip "$3", told the employee she heard about it on twitter and got the employee fired. Shame on Barney's and shame on Jane Adams!

  • Pros: Celebs may behave however they please
  • Cons: Employees get fired for blogging

Where West Coast Ladies Lunch

by madtrails

After a day of shopping and celeb watching, why not enjoy some tasty lox, or a cobb salad and a glass of Chardonnay, while looking at the mountains? The last three times I went, I saw celebs, including the Olson twins (if they qualify) and Pamela Anderson!

  • Pros: Great View, Large Patio
