Great Improv Classes in a nurturing environment
by radiancelee at Citysearch
Laugh while you learn! This place is fantastic and cozy. Not filled with competitive Hollywood types, but rather wacky individuals with incredible talent who come together to play.
During the week, it offers all levels of improv classes and every time you go to class you can bet on laughing yourself silly.
There are also shows over the weekend, that are always unpredictable and always ridiculous, in a good way.
- Pros: Fun and Funny Classes, Convenient Parking
great comedy spot
by lovedog at Citysearch
This is a really great spot to catch a weekend comedy show. No need to travel into Hollywood if you're a beach-centric westsider. They specialize in a long form improv style which tries to tell tell an extended story with tangents and recurring characters. Kind of like a Robert Altman movie. There are shows at 8 9 & 10 on both Friday and Saturdays. On Fridays at 9 there's a show called POP which focuses on stuff from the news, political and not. The most popular show on Saturdays is a group called the Transformers, whose core group has been together for something like 15 years (Lisa Kudrow was in the group pre-Friends).
They also have beginning and advanced improv classes during the week.
- Pros: good cheap comedy on the WS, easy parking
