great place, good music, beautiful people, bad service, huge main room, fast lane, not very pleasing condition
Crazy. This club is very sleazy, everyone's half dressed and drunk. The service is bad and the line a fairly long. I only stayed there for 1 hour and left. This club would be be better suited for one who lives on the fast lane. Not a club for couples!!!
The Grand. The Grand is a great place to check in on the weekends. Friday and Saturday are both super crowded with a diverse collection of characters. Downtown LA is happening and The Grand is a great spot to enjoy it.
Grandiose Downtown club with a look and feel designed strictly for the beat seeker..
The Scene
Megaclubs like Grand Avenue draw flocks of fervent electronic music enthusiasts who either can't wait for the next rave or want to party in a safe, legal environment. Located in a sketchy part of downtown, the exterior is straight out of the movie "Escape From L.A." Inside, it's murky and crusty, but the crowd is there for the beats, not the ambience. Laser lights shoot through a dark and decadent dance floor as techno and house music blasts throughout. The smaller, upper dance room plays hip-hop and R&B.
The Draw
The crowd, which consists of weekend warriors from the (714) to the (818), college crazies and urban beat junkies, is as high-energy as the music.
A canker sore, in need of a very large band aide.. I hope people don't think that this place is like Studio 54 or some other swanky place. The fact is this place is nothing but a canker sore, in need of a very large band aide. Try to find pictures of the building facade. You would be amazed at how run down the outside is. By the looks of it the place should be condemned. I only hope that there is never a major earthquake or fire, when there are many people inside. It is a disaster waiting to happen. On the morning of Aug. 10th. at approximately 2:15 AM there was a gunfight among the patrons of the Grand Avenue Club. Needless to say, the continued operation of this club is contrary to the goals of building a new, vibrant neighborhood in South Park. This place needs to be shut down.
Great Reggaeton Fridays, HipHop Saturdays!.
I don't know anything about the house, trance, etc. that everyone seems to mention. These days the Grand is known as the hottest Rap/HipHop/Reggaeton spot on Fridays (Reggaeton) Saturdays (HipHop) and sometimes Sundays. Usually from 10pm-4am.
It is one of the hottest spots for blacks and hispanics although I do see alot of white girls there sometimes.
There's good things and bad things about this club.
..................
THE BAD
-The line - takes up to half an hour to get in
-Overpriced - $15 to get in, $20 for VIP
-Room 2 is very tiny, too crowded, all the fights happen there, and was too gheto for me in there
-At 2am the main room closes and everyone tries to crowd into the 2nd room until 4am (or leaves)
-It's a little old and dirty but I don't mind and neither do the hundreds of people there every night
..................
THE GOOD
-Room 1 (the main room) is huge
-The music is good, the DJs are good
-They always have some kind of event and usually you can get discount tickets or free sometimes
-It's 18+ to get in making it even more of a hot spot
-They have 2 rooms so on Fri and Sat it's rap in one room, reggaeton in the other
-Open until 4am
-Alot of parking
-Alot of security they are really good at breaking up fights
After hour dance..... We have gone to this place lot of time on Sat. night after all other club close@2. This place is not the nicest to look at but the music is great...house and trance mostly..but it an after hour club after all. if you just want to dance with lot of room to move around, this is the place..we like it much better than avalon.. didn't have to wait in line and the parking is cheaper. plus there room to move around..anyway..it just my two cent.
Good Music Bad Scene. Big place. Enjoy the music in the house with a tube shot or outside in the tent wth a lit cigar. My favorite is the promoter for Club Naked. Rave and trance. The good music starts after 2am: Rough House music. Tip for the single men: many Hustler and Penthouse girls go there often;) Sadly, 1/2 of the club consists of half naked, bone skinny, horrible tattoo art, ugly Asian gangsters sitting and watching their even uglier girls dance. Being an Asian myself, I'm sooo embrassed on how ugly they look and dress. Let me know when they are no longer there. Then I'll come back with my friends :) My girls and boys are not Hustler hot, but definitly Gap cute. ;)
Not bad. I have been there many times. I gess there is different promoters every night. The best nights are every other fridays, wihch calls Nacked. The place is a rave seen. Has a great trance dj. The club starts at 10:00 finishes up at 6:00 in the morning. It is a great place for true dancers and ravers.
Getting Old. I used to go this club a lot. It was fun but it is getting played out. Too many gangster starting to go on Saturday for the Escape venue. Naked is also the same thing which is for Friday night. The decor of this place is just plain. I would like to see the owner of this club redecorate the place or clean up the place a little because the condition now is not very pleasing.
just say no.. This club really is bad. The music was boring, leaving the dancing...wanting. The people weren't interesting...making people watching not worth it either. I would recommend for the club to remodel and change the decor. Maybe even hire some of the pretty perfects to do their thing.
