diverse crowd, most friendly bartenders, great drinks, great place, attentive bar staff, love clientele, good little bar
TRASH AND HOMELESS PEOPLE. There is an old ugly flippino guy ROGER AQUINO who lives at this bar.....I think....Every time I walk in he asks me if he can borrow $20 I have stopped going because this looser is always begging people for money.
Notorious gay dive offers eccentric Hollywood atmosphere..
The Scene
A black tarp draping the door leads into a long, dark and unadorned wood and mirrored space, which resembles a suburban rec room more than an infamous Hollywood haunt. Mature regulars hold court on the long bar to the right, while a motley amalgam of often good-looking neighborhood toughs and transgenders occupy the left side and the pool table in the back. Frequent groups of hipsters dot the scene, some just to gawk, some to blend in.
The Draw
A dive in the best sense of the word: Seedy vibe, cheap drinks and early morning hours. There's rarely a dull moment here, with some sort of subtext always brimming beneath the surface. It's best to go with a group of friends, while solo patrons find the atmosphere just as likely to be convivial as it is to be a little intimidating.
Great Time!. Good little bar with great drinks, excellent bartenders and servers. Only bar in town where owner is there nightly!
best bartenders around!. I love the Spotlight because there is no attitude and the bartenders and barbacks are THE most friendly I have ever met!! I love the clientele (is that spelled correctly?) and I like that Don Samuels is always a very good host. All in all I would have to say the bar is MOST FANTAAAABLAH!!!!
Dazzling COcktails. Don't let the outside scare you. The most honest and totally real bar in L.A. The trendy people pop in, but just add to the mix, they don't spoil the sauce. It's a great place to try out a new daring ouchfit. They have the best rock & roll jukebox in town. The drinks could be used to strip paint, and are CHEAP, $3 to $4. none of that $9. crap! YOu can go here alone, and not feel strange, somebody will buy you a drink and keep you entertained. It's the friendliest bar in L.A. !! $5. - $6. lot parking 1/2 block up Cahuenga. If I go anywhere else, I KNOW it won't compare!
Whoa! What a Drink. This is definitely the type of place where you and your friends provide your own entertainment. So make sure you're hanging out with a lively group. The bar is dark, low-key and the patrons are extremely eclectic. The crowd varied in ages from what looked to be barely legal to up in the 70s. Even though this might not be a place that you'll totally rave about, any barfly would agree, the drinks are strong, tasty and at a price that could afford even the tightest budget a good buzz.
Great little dive for drinks and chat.. The Spotlight was a comfortable dark and seedy little bar that served the BEST drinks of any bar in LA...and better yet, they were so reasonably priced! The bar staff was so friendly and attentive, so quick to get you another even before you finish your first round. An empty glass never sat on our table more than a minute and a half before someone was there to take it and happily take our order for another. The crowd was cool, relaxed and so diverse! A great mixed crowd of all types makes this a comfy place for any age, sexual preference, or creed!
