The Scene
The sleek and modern space coddles some of the highest-profile wheeler-dealers in town. At lunch, kingpins from Castle Rock and DreamWorks fill the high-backed booths, which offer nearly as much seclusion as a private dining room. The entire staff is amicable and eager to please, especially when the chef pops out of the open kitchen to visit with diners.
The Food
When it opened in 1989, Maple Drive made it cool to serve chili on white linen. Now, the kitchen is dedicated to keeping favorites on the menu, but introduces some new finery. Slightly spicy blue crab cakes with fried lemon slices, or the chopped salad with white beans, prosciutto and provolone, make an excellent appetizers. Classics like a brick of meat loaf with mashed potatoes or grilled Kobe steak with crisp fries are equally flavorful. Something more creative might be smooth spiced squash with perfectly cooked salmon. Fresh baked cookies and milk or a decadent chocolate lava cake perfectly end the meal.

Went to this restaurant for a Monday night dinner. I had been there before over a year ago and enjoyed it. Not so much this time. It was practically empty and kindof depressing. The food was good but not spectacular. The service started strong but then became atrocious. I thought we'd never get out of there. We had the kind of waitress who was terrific until she had other tables, and then completely forgot about you. The host was not very helpful or apologetic about such horrible service. Then the bill was the icing on the cake. Way too expensive for what it is. Considering most of the reviews are from 2005 and that the restaurant was nearly empty, looks like I'm the last to know that this place is not worth it. I've spent less at a place like Grace, and would never go back to Maple Drive. C-
