good bar food, nice place, enjoy big open feeling, great experience, great music, usually good service, happy staff
Good Food. Great crowd, specially on the weekends. Food is real good. The service isn't all that. You have to wait a long time to be noticed by your server, and even then it takes a while to get what you asked for.
It was pretty cool. I went there for a common concert! The atmosphere was coo! The promoters were nice! Even the security officers were awesome!! In fact there were times I forgot they were on duty! Drinks were good too! Overall it was a cool experience.
Ambiance is not for everyone but in all the HRC Rocks!.
Decent place but it just wasn't right for my power lunch with my record industry associate. The service was awesome and the place seemed well managed. They had an amazing collection of music memorabilia but my associate was just "too cool" for all of this. Well.... that shouldn't reflect bad on the Hard rock but he wasn't thrilled with what he called the "F$#^king Disneyland" ambiance.
Oh well. I will go back because I love the pulled pork sandwich and The HArd Rock always has a soft spot in my heart from when I used to the SF location in the 80s. Most of us Record Industry people are pric$^s anyways.
Worship rock legends while dining on familiar American favorites..
In Short
Walls covered with decades of Top-40 memorabilia, rock songs blaring in the background and an all-American menu typify this music-themed restaurant. The kitchen churns out group-friendly appetizers like nachos and Southern staples like barbecue ribs and chicken. Burgers are served with hefty sides of fries and the signature pulled-pork sandwich is topped with vinegar barbecue sauce. The gift shop sells branded items like T-shirts, shot glasses and hats.
Feeling mixed now, but overall happy.
Having not gone to Hard Rock since I was a pre-teen, my memory is a bit hazy as to how loud the place really was back then. We went (6 of us) on a Monday evening and the place was pretty empty...I'm thinking maybe it was the lack of crowd to absorb the audio that caused the incredibly loud ambient noise. It was so loud that by the time I was almost done with dinner I was nauseous (and I'm a 25 year old female who should NOT be that sensitive to loud music).
Besides the surprisingly annoying "background" music, the crew was fantastic and the food was good. Their seasoned fries are delicious and makes up for the slightly higher price ranges for what other reviewers call "bar food."You're eating at a tourist hangout, so of course it'll be a bit elevated.
Ultimately the Hard Rock offers a great experience, but just don't go there expecting to have any sort of conversation with your group. The patio is a bit quieter, so if it's a nice night, grab a spot out there.
One of the few gems in the Citywalk. Hard Rock Cafe is one of the few places within the Universal Studios Citywalk that I would recommend. I would typically go for lunch and was always satisfied with the service, food, and portions. Granted, it's nothing upscale, but serves good burgers and bar food. The staff are friendly and happy to have anyone come through the door during the daytime. The Hard Rock brand is well maintained at this location. I enjoy the big open feeling of the place.
DON'T GO THERE!. I went there for a few drinks before my movie and it was a HUGE mistake. We sat at the bar and ordered 4 drinks and I left my tab open. After closing out my tab, I tipped the bartender $5.00 and went to the movie. A few days later, I checked my bank account and he had charged for $7.00!! I was furious! Not for the measly $2 extra dollars but because he stole from me. So I called the General Manager and told him what happened. The GENERAL Manager basically told me that I was a liar and that bartender has been working there for years and he didn't believe that bartender would be capable of doing something like that. His excuse was that maybe the bartender mistaked the number 5 for the number 7. B-S! I looked at my receipt and it was very clear, not to mention that a 5 looks nothing near like a 7! I ended up hanging up on the General Manager because he was SO RUDE. Seriously, DON'T GO THERE. There are so many other places in that strip, spend your $$ somewhere else. Daily Grill has always been good to me so now I go there!
Hard (Luck) Rock Cafe. True story: I took my wife there with hundreds of dollars of cash in my pocket, I picked the place the Hard Rock in Uni City ..I like the hard rock in Vegas and on Beverly but this time {here it comes so brace yourself} this time I was pushed aside like a filthy farm animal. I asked the Guy Hostess if my girl and I could have a romantic seat at one of their empty tables he said here is a pager have a seat at the bar and wait for a table we will page you.I said sit me now get the tip he said please wait at the bar we did reluctantly soon as we got there the pager beeped I was pissed so we went to Gladstones up the walk and everything was perfect from that moment on. Hard Rock lost our bussiness several times since.
Best of CityWalk. I dont look at Hard Rock as a choice destination unless Im going to be in the are anyway. Usually I only go there if Im early for a show at the Universal Amphitheater, or I feel like waiting out the crowd after a concert. It can be fun to sit at the bar as the 56 Chevy rotates overheard, and to gaze at all the memorabilia on the walls. The service is usually good at both the bar and the tables. Sometimes on a nice summer night it can be fun to sit outside, have a nice meal, watch the jumbotron and the people. The food is good, but not that special. Though I have to say, I had the best split pea soup of my life at Hard Rock. Who knew?
Too Much for a Good Time!. Nice place, way too much money! The food here is ok, but the prices are outragous. The overall atmosphere is good, with good music always playing and lots of stuff to look at, but when it comes down to actually eating, then is the time to pull out the dough and get ready to spend a whole lot of money.
