bad food, great place, bad service, rude drinks, friendly door staff, really enjoy dresden room, fantastic experience

Dresden is a neighborhood staple of Los Feliz. You may recognize it from a few movies, including Swingers. You can either enjoy the restaurant for dinner or drinks at the lounge and some live music!
So classic, it's almost a cliche, but still it's always a good time. See Marty and Elayne perform while you sip a martini at least once before you die.
Great alternative to typical LA nightlife.
My friend and I were looking for a fun place with no door drama, something with some spark, but where we could also talk, ya know? We'd never been to the Dresden and gave it a whirl last night.
What a treat! Right away - the lot in the back is easy to park (and cheap!), the door staff was friendly, we were approached by a waitress in the bar who helped us find a little table (imagine that - proactive service!), and our waitress was attentive and friendly. She got a little overwhelmed i think when the place filled up around 11-midnight, but we were having fun so it was cool.
The atmosphere is certainly enchanting and crowd was so mixed - everything from lively older couples to attractive singles to crowds of hipsters. Marty and Elayne are amazing & take requests!! :) And some guest singers who popped up on stage were great too. Drink prices are also very reasonable - was surprised by how little the bill was.
If you want a night out with some style and class, try the Dresden. Get there a little before the set starts to grab a booth and hold onto it all night, or mix it up with the crowd near the bar later and chat up an attractive guy. Don't go there to be seen or get crazy, keep it real and you'll have a great time.
I LOVE THE DRESDEN!!!. I love The Dresden Room! I used to go there regularly, but haven't been in awhile. I arrived on a busy Saturday night to a jam packed bar. I figured my party and I probably wouldn't have a chance at a table, but I thought to give it a try just in case. No twenty dollar handshake needed here. We asked the server if there were any available tables, and not only did say that she would snag us the next table that became available, she actually did! Completely refreshing! Bonnie gave us the best service, Marty and Elaine are quite the sight to see, and the crowd is awesome! I would highly recommend The Dresden Room. Old School Glamor with a pulse.
Swingers!. Menu offers fine dining, but the meals weren't cooked to perfection. Prices quite touristy. Wait staff super nice and genuine. Lounge next door fun. Marty & Elaine hokey but memorable and offer unique experience. One can talk while listening to classic songs. wish the sound system were better. The drinks were more juice than liquor, so stick to wine and beer. Cool white booths. Ambience over quality of food and drink.
Good ambience and value in Hollywood. I went to the Dresden yesterday and loved it! The fact that this place has appeared in movies got me there but the service and value will keep me coming back for more. It felt like a flash back in time when I first entered the door. The white booths, low lighting, and high ceilings were unlike anything else I've seen in other restaurants. The waiter was awesome! Very kind, helpful, and professional. Our glasses were constantly being topped off, the garlic bread kept coming, and our used dishes were taken from the table very quickly. I had so much to eat and really didn't spend a lot. For two people I ordered two main entrees, six drinks, and two appetizers for only a little over one hundred bucks (which is a lot of food for the price considering other places I've gone to). The food was delicious! I definetly recommend the Veil Marsala with a Pinot Grigio Wine. All the drinks I ordered were great even the Dirty Martini I had for myself. The lounge act was entertaining although I did not see them since I was in the next room I really enjoyed the songs that were sung. Overall fantastic experience highly recommended!
Marty & Elaine are your primary reasons to come -. I have never eaten a lick of anything at the Dresden...I'll go have a bite to eat at Vermont down the way and then walk up to catch Marty & Elaine, who truly are a delight and probably keep the doors at this LA establishment constantly flooded with happy fans and customers. Drop a buck into their overflowing tip jar and I can guarantee you they will know just about any Dean Martin standard you want them to sing! Try the "b l o o d and sand" cocktail. I have no idea what's in it but after 3 of them, you will be having an excellent time.
Time Travel. After hearing about this restaurant, my boyfriend and I decided to check it out. Immediately upon entering the restaurant, you feel swept away to the sixties. The decor is amazing; sense of humor or not. White leather booths and dark wood interiors create an ambiance different from anything I have seen in LA. We were greeted by an incredibly friendly staff, and seated immediately. Our waiter was hilarious and provided helpful hints with the menu and wine list. He also kept fresh garlic bread on the table and constantly refilled our glasses. The food was good and the portions large - I had pasta primavera in white wine sauce, and the bf had a steak with a giant baked potato. The meals come with soup or salad and a choice of side. Prices were decent for the huge amount of food and the ambiance-- they range in the $14-$23 territory. Don't choose The Dresden Room if you are looking for a light meal, as everything is heavy and fairly full of pasta, meat, or butter. We missed the lounge act, but plan on going back to see it. Highly recommended for a 'different cool' night out, as you won't find anything remotely trendy about this dining establishment.
NEVER AGAIN.
This afternoon when I checked my online bank balance, I'd been overcharged from last night's dinner, and the owner was extraordinairly rude to our entire party.
If you're under 60, don't pick The Dresden.
Going downhill..... I've lived in Los Feliz for a while and my wife and I took some guest to the classic Dresden for drinks, music and a little food. We've gone there quite a bit through the years. We were devastated to discover the classic spot is really going downhill. Overpriced, low quality, bad service, over crowded, they mix up our orders three times and overcharged us. It was an embarrassment to us and our friends. Never going back.
An L.A. Classic. I love this place. Marty and Elayne are something everyone should experience at least once. They do really loungey versions of songs like "Muscrat Love" and "Stayin' Alive." The martinis are excellent, made old-fashioned and correct. The glasses are small but they don't charge $12 for them either. Arrive early and get a booth if you can, though it's been awhile since I've seen the place unbearably crowded. Eat somewhere else first because the food is really just average.
Open for Lunch. Best rueben I ever had-including from the deli's...great lunch deals. Very casual, retro, cool...lot's of mature adults from Hollywood days gone by...loved it!
