A pleasant fast food experience – Baja Fresh might not be the best mexican in LA (in fact I kind of feel guilty going here because there are so many great local, legit joints) but I like their stuff. Their burritos (particularly the Nacho Burrito, my go to) are big and stuffed with about the right amount of everything. They don't cheat you on meat filling, rice, cheese or anything else (and they don't let the rolled up ends of tortilla take up precious space either).
BUT here's the thing that made me want to post this review: Baja Fresh is the cleanest fast food place I've ever been to. Every single one of them! The one in Hollywood almost always has someone wandering around wiping down tables or taking care of random trash....that's why though I venture in rarely, I am always trusting of the delicious crap I shove down my gullet.
Charbroiled meats and fresh salsas add authentic spice to this Mexicali fast-food chain. – In Short
High tables and a busy open kitchen welcome diners into the spacious, brightly lit black-and-white interior. Just minutes after cashiers take customer orders, fresh-made tacos, burritos and enchiladas (stuffed with steak, chicken or seafood) arrive on the nearby counter. The menu also offers several plates of greens, from typical taco salad to fancier bowls with shrimp or mahi mahi. A stainless-steel bar offers several salsas, plus jalapenos, limes and cilantro for seasoning.
Baja oy veh! – How can this be the best burrito in L.A.? Baja Fresh is not even Mexican food, it's California healthy concious food. Mexican food is supposed to be cheap. At $7.00 for a burrito, that's mucho deniro. Talk about S L O W service!
El Tarasco is the best wet burrito spot. El Tarasco is an authentic Mexican food restaraunt unlike the americanized Chipotle, Baja Fresh, and Poquito Mas. People who eat at Chipotle and Poquito Mas don't know burritos and probably never even at a taco truck before! If you go to El Tarasco you must get the Super Deluxe Chicken Burrito with a large Orange Bang.
Good Tex Mex fast food – You don't feel too guilty after eating at this Tex Mex place and the food is fairly good. This is not "Taco Bell". My favorites: the fish tacos & the Baja chicken burrito.
good stuff – Everything is good, but don't pass up the enchiladas. They're tasty and juicy.
Best Burrito In Town – Baja makes THE best burrito in town. Of course it's Americanized, their restaurants are actually CLEAN. Authentic Mexican food isn't very good, but if you want to pay $2.50 for crap in a tortilla including Grade D meat, go ahead. Tex-Mex is by far much better, and I'll take Baja any day of the week over any other burrito in LA.
wow – you people are idiots, baja isn't supposed to be authentic mexican food, it's supposed to be a healthy version of it... this place is great, everything fresh, they keep the place remarkably clean when you take in consideration the amount of traffic going through there grabbing salsas and lemons and whatnot.
WHAT? – Best burrito? This place makes the worst burrito I've had. It's fine if you're having lunch but if you want a real burrito, this isn't the right kind of place.
Give Me A Break! – It's an Americanized burrito. Nothing wrong with that. More avocado than meat in those burros.
