In Short – You'll feel like you just stepped into your neighborhood bar ... unless your neighborhood is West Hollywood. It should be empty enough for you to grab a seat at a table or on one of the mismatched couches. But first, pick a song on the jukebox, which has everything from Salt N Pepa to Johnny Cash. There's also a pool table and an electronic dartboard. – –
expensive dive bar
by xg
this place is a typical, great dive bar... until you get the bill. With such overblown hollywood prices ($8 for a vodka), there's no excuse for it to be so grungy, and you can't help but feel that you should have gone somewhere else. If you're paying so much then you might as well be sitting on clean furniture. They should either lower the prices and keep it a dive bar, or redecorate and keep the prices high.
- Pros: friendly, divey
- Cons: too expensive
$10 for a 3oz martini at a dive bar?
by iheartcs
we picked this place b/c we wanted to escape cheesy Hollywood bars with $12 martinis. we were shell shocked when the woman running the place told us our tab for one round. then she said it's usually $12 each. and the pour was small for an already small bucket.
there were only 4 other people inside.
the jukebox is good and couches comfy, but someone played all Tom Waits so we sat through 6 songs and left. it would be a good place if the drinks were $7 or less and made bigger.
- Pros: jukebox, not too crowded, couches
- Cons: expensive drinks, parking, smells like pocorn
Great vibe but once got super weak drink
by katyn15
The White Horse, a champoin among dives, is a fun, low-key, homey place to hang. The woman who runs it is Russian or otherwise Eastern European and is adorable as she runs around the tables making everyone at home by bringing them peanuts and popcorn. I once had the weakest kamikaze ever here (not made by the owner) but a friend assures me that the matron herself makes the drinks plenty strong. Just watch while they pour, and if in doubt, get a beer.
