Don't mind the black leather jackets--the casual, 30-something crowd is here to socialize, not intimidate. Traffic jams are frequent around the pool table and back dining rooms. Martinis are serious business here, with more than 50 varieties served in full-on eight-ounce portions. Considering most of the kids are here for martinis, the grub's actually pretty good. Peruse the menu of comfort standards that range from soups and salads to entrees like burgers, pasta and seafood. Just remember to grab the gang and get there before 9pm on Fridays to snag one of the coveted cheetah-print couches in…
Chill atmosphere, hip without being over pretentious
by Pilar74 at Citysearch
I have gone here for years. This is the place that invented the apple martini, and that is what I always get. The vibe is cool and hip but not over the top pretentious which I like in a city like L.A. I like to sit in the back in one of the tables by the bar. The last time we were there me and my friend ordered a three cheese ravioli which we both shared. The food seemed better than I had remembered, I think they may have a new chef. The other thing I like about this place is that you can sit down with a friend and actually have a conversation and a drink and it never seems overly crowded or loud like some of the other spots in the city. And I can always seem to find a spot on the street to park, which is always a perk in West Hollywood!
- Pros: Best Martinis in Los Angeles
- Cons: none
HAPPY HOUR NOT SO HAPPY!!!
by mmmbrownie at Citysearch
Well they advertize to come for "Happy Hour"...we got and they sat us in the restaurant part (My girlfriend and I usually sit at the bar...where the bartenders really take care of you). We ordered 2 appetizers...and 2 drinks...we were told Happy Hour was over soon. So we orsered 2 more appetizers and 2 drinks a piece...then we were told we could NOT have 2 drinks...then we were told never mind then Happy Hour is over... and they were so "curt" about it. I paid my bill and did not leave a tip as I did not appreciate there tone... we didn't want anything free...we were just going to have fun after work and neither one of us were driving so????... We went to the bar and orered our regular drinks with the bartender when we were told by the bartender that we were being cut off cause they are saying we had too much... When we got there at 7:00pm and left at 10:30pm and we had 3 drinks ( one per hour).???? We were then told to leave ....According to their website it states encorages you to take pictures and upload them to the site.... when in fact when my flash went off they had security ask me to leave... Some of their review states that they are prejudice (African American)... I don't know if this is in fact true...but they are very distasteful and very ignorant. NOT THE BARTENDERS!!!
P.s. We have been there a few times and had a drink and order shooters...that is then 2 drinks...so why the problem this night!!!
Because the waitress told management we didn't tip her...so they cut us off at the bar...and then asked us to leave...
Ask the bartenders...we tip great for good service...but if service is NOT good...we're suppose to compliment them for treating us rudely!!!... I don't think so...
If you go there STAY IN THE BAR AREA AND ORDER YOUR DRINKS FROM THE BAR...DO NOT SIT IN THE TASTELESS RESTAURANT AREA..... OR BETTER YET...DON'T BOTHER GOING...WHERE YOU CAN'T HAVE FUN...Cabo Cantina has Happy Hour...2 for 1 drinks...I guess they are breaking the law...according to Lolas (Sylvie)...and any other bars that allows you to have a shooter while you already have a drink...
STAY AWAY!!.. and go have fun at a "real" Happy Hour place...
- Pros: Great Bartenders...Jay...David..too many to name...
- Cons: Rude Wait staff!.. Sylvie/owner/manager!
This is the worst place I have ever been to anywhere
by Ulesse at Citysearch
Some Friends and I decided to check out this spot. The building looked charming, nothing much inside.
We were sitting there when 12 men that worked there attacked two women. Thank God they had a male companion with them.
I have never seen anything like that in my life. One of the women was literally thrown into tables and landed on the floor. There was no hollering or screaming prior to this, nothing, I was shocked. I ran over and tried to get one of the guys to let go of one of the women, he had choked her to the ground. Her male companion knocked the guy in the face and he released the woman.
I will never go back to Lola's and someone should shut it down. I have never seen a business function like that
ever, even on New Years. It was horrible.
I am including a rating because he site demands it, they deserve a -rating.
- Cons: Beating up Women is not my idea of a Funtime!
