Editorial Review for Lola's – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
Don't mind the black leather jackets--the casual, 30-something crowd is here to socialize, not intimidate. Traffic jams are frequent around the pool table and back dining rooms. Martinis are serious business here, with more than 40 varieties served in staggering eight-ounce portions. Grab the gang and get there before 9pm on Fridays to snag one of the coveted cheetah-print couches in front.

My friend posted a truthful bad review of Lola's, and I was appalled to see that the restaurant clearly lied in a responding post, saying that we didn't have a reservation (we most certainly did, especially for a birthday dinner) and that we refused to leave our table after the manager informed us about our so-called two-hour limit (we left within a few minutes). A smart management team wouldn't blatantly lie on a forum like this -- they would apologize for their poor service and assure customers that it won't happen again. That's customer service 101, a course this place clearly needs to take.

I am an African American woman who has been going to Lola's for at least the last 10 years and have NEVER had a problem. The staff is very welcoming and helpful, the food and the drinks aim to please. I would say if you are "Black" and have had a problem here it is not becuase of the color of your skin but quite possibly becuase of your attitude ... and the obvious chip on your shoulder. Lola's has one of the most diverse crowds of any bar / restaurant in the city - I commend them for it and I feel very comfortable there. I highly recommend this spot ... for people of all colors.
Pros: great staff, martinis!, great crab cakes
Cons: very busy ... sometimes the valet is slow
