great martinis, great amazing place, love lola, great drinks, rude horrible staff, great professional service, worst service experience
Great martinis and even better late happy hour, 10:30pm-12am.
Bland, depressing. All around brutal dining experience. We got inexplicably clipboarded at the VELVET ROPE at 8:30 or so, by a woman who then let us in even though we weren't on any list and didn't have a reservation. We ordered 5 appetizers and didn't even get all of them. The food that we got came ~45min after we ordered: seriously. We were only able to order two rounds of drinks in 90min because our poor overwhelmed server (who told us it was only her second night!) had 8-10 tables. Incredibly poor experience, considering there are so many good options around here! Would have given 0 stars if it were possible, a 0.5 would be kind. Don't do this to yourself, you deserve better.
Nasty staff with horrible service and racial prejudicism. I went with one of my girlfriends to celebrate both of our birthdays on a friday night. I made reservation couple days before for 8 to 15 people from 7pm to 9pm I arrived with couple friends and while waiting on the other people to show up, the owner came over and didnt even say hi but to let us know that we have to eat now and that there are no guarantee's that seats or table are going to be availabe when the rest of the group arrives. She was basically telling us that we have to hurry up and eat now without the rest of my friends whom are coming to celibrate our birthday. Black folks please dont go to this restaurant if you want to be treated with some respect and dignity, please find other places that can appreciate your hard earned money. Lola's staff was VERY nasty and they didnt even want us to bring our drink from the happy hour bar section to our regular tables. I reufse to pay a bitch for service like this...are u kidding me! I got up and walk right out leaving couple of my friends still sitting there. Aint no bitch getting my money for that kind of service. There aren't any black people working in this place which makes me wonder especialy in a time like now. I will give cheesecake factory ten stars over these bastard. I am really pissed with these people that I will never never eat at this place ever, even if the food was for free. As a matter a fact there is no kind of fashoin/style to this place it was plain and boring and so were the people. If you are a hippie this would definately be a place for you. HORRIBLE STAFF, RESTAURANT AND THE OWNER IS WORST. Take my word for it or read all the other reviews. Peace
Chill atmosphere, hip without being over pretentious. I have gone here for years. This is the place that invented the apple martini, and that is what I always get. The vibe is cool and hip but not over the top pretentious which I like in a city like L.A. I like to sit in the back in one of the tables by the bar. The last time we were there me and my friend ordered a three cheese ravioli which we both shared. The food seemed better than I had remembered, I think they may have a new chef. The other thing I like about this place is that you can sit down with a friend and actually have a conversation and a drink and it never seems overly crowded or loud like some of the other spots in the city. And I can always seem to find a spot on the street to park, which is always a perk in West Hollywood!
HAPPY HOUR NOT SO HAPPY!!!.
Well they advertize to come for "Happy Hour"...we got and they sat us in the restaurant part (My girlfriend and I usually sit at the bar...where the bartenders really take care of you). We ordered 2 appetizers...and 2 drinks...we were told Happy Hour was over soon. So we orsered 2 more appetizers and 2 drinks a piece...then we were told we could NOT have 2 drinks...then we were told never mind then Happy Hour is over... and they were so "curt" about it. I paid my bill and did not leave a tip as I did not appreciate there tone... we didn't want anything free...we were just going to have fun after work and neither one of us were driving so????... We went to the bar and orered our regular drinks with the bartender when we were told by the bartender that we were being cut off cause they are saying we had too much... When we got there at 7:00pm and left at 10:30pm and we had 3 drinks ( one per hour).???? We were then told to leave ....According to their website it states encorages you to take pictures and upload them to the site.... when in fact when my flash went off they had security ask me to leave... Some of their review states that they are prejudice (African American)... I don't know if this is in fact true...but they are very distasteful and very ignorant. NOT THE BARTENDERS!!!
P.s. We have been there a few times and had a drink and order shooters...that is then 2 drinks...so why the problem this night!!!
Because the waitress told management we didn't tip her...so they cut us off at the bar...and then asked us to leave...
Ask the bartenders...we tip great for good service...but if service is NOT good...we're suppose to compliment them for treating us rudely!!!... I don't think so...
If you go there STAY IN THE BAR AREA AND ORDER YOUR DRINKS FROM THE BAR...DO NOT SIT IN THE TASTELESS RESTAURANT AREA..... OR BETTER YET...DON'T BOTHER GOING...WHERE YOU CAN'T HAVE FUN...Cabo Cantina has Happy Hour...2 for 1 drinks...I guess they are breaking the law...according to Lolas (Sylvie)...and any other bars that allows you to have a shooter while you already have a drink...
STAY AWAY!!.. and go have fun at a "real" Happy Hour place...
This is the worst place I have ever been to anywhere.
Some Friends and I decided to check out this spot. The building looked charming, nothing much inside.
We were sitting there when 12 men that worked there attacked two women. Thank God they had a male companion with them.
I have never seen anything like that in my life. One of the women was literally thrown into tables and landed on the floor. There was no hollering or screaming prior to this, nothing, I was shocked. I ran over and tried to get one of the guys to let go of one of the women, he had choked her to the ground. Her male companion knocked the guy in the face and he released the woman.
I will never go back to Lola's and someone should shut it down. I have never seen a business function like that
ever, even on New Years. It was horrible.
I am including a rating because he site demands it, they deserve a -rating.
I love this place. After reading the two reviews by the "ladies" that were asked to leave I could not help but comment. This is one of the ONLY places in LA with a very diverse crowd and a very welcoming atmosphere. I am an African American woman and have been coming to Lola's for years - I have NEVER had a problem. I too have heard the whisperings but can say that I have never experienced this problem. I think there are two kinds of African Americans - those looking for problems and those who aren't. The people writing these two reviews appear to be the latter. First you say they welcome you in (strange for a place that doesnt want "black people" , then it would appear you dont honor your dinner reservation - you have made a reservation for a table in the dining room which they have held for you yet you MOVE to the bar because it is "cheaper". They let you go ahead and do this - still no problem. Suddenly but no fault of your own they turn on you and decide to throw you out ... hummm, suspisious. Is it possible you heard bad things and went in with a chip on your shoulder? Is it possible you were eight women making SO MUCH NOISE that you were disrupting everyone around you and that they did ask you to tone it down and rather than just doing that you decided this was the begining stages of the "discrimination you were looking for."? We have all been there ... dropped beside a table of screaming women fueled by liqour who just dont care that they are TOO LOUD. I imagine this restaurant was justified in FINALLY asking you to leave ... I commend them. If you really are looking to "enjoy" a night out .. dont go looking for trouble where there isn't any. GET A LIFE.
Heavenly Mac n Cheese.
Heavenly Mac n Cheese. Crispy baked cheese on top with warm gooey goodness on the bottom!
Enjoyed the versatile seating areas from a casual loung area to a formal dining area.
Staff is very friendly but the fountain soda's were a little odd when I had dinner there.
Friendly place and Family Values. We had our celebration at Lola's after the passage of Proposition 8. The staff there was really inviting and friendly. It's nice to know that we still have a great place to go in West Hollywood. Family First.
Great ambience but average food.
Lola's was a place I had heard about and wanted to try, especially after seeing it aired on the Hills. The ambience was very sultry and intimate, perfect for a date spot. The appetizer I ate was quite tasty, and the dessert was also impressive, however the main course(a chicken one) had no flavor whatsoever and was lacking taste! I was very disappointed after being pleased with the appetizer. The bar area looked very bustling though, not being 21 I cannot comment on their drinks.
Parking is valet, finding street parking will be too much of a hassle!
Best Martini in LA.
Theres new chef at Lola`s!!! Up until recently they had a bad spell with a lot of incompetance in the kitchen, but at long last the real deal has finally arrived! And let me tell you this guy is no joke!
Lola`s is also doing what they can to help out us struggling are with the bad ecomony but still need to get out for some kicks...they have introduced the Hard Times Happy Hour! Happy Hour is now 7 days a week! Yep thats right Saturday and Sunday too! Not only do they feature their signature birdbath sized Martinis for 5 bucks they have also created an extended bar menu filled with a ton of great choices for only $5.50...you must try the Crostini Sandwich w/ smoked mozzarella, pulled short ribs & onion marmalade...YUMMY!!!!!
