cool small venue, not that good sound, only nice bartenders, best band, great spot, famous musicians, really expensive drinks
mid-week energizer!. Great spot for those mid-week blues. Upcoming events include Teresa Michalina on June 18th at 8 pm...not to be missed! She is amazing. You'll be able to say that you saw her before she became famous. OK, alcohol is expensive, but they are generous...and there is a wide variety of individuals who come to check out what's happening. Worth the effort!
blah.. so i've been there more than a few times....they have the cover band, the starfuckers twice a week. they're ok- but off stage they're pretentious. i enjoy sitting with other musicians discussing music, but unless you're willing to buy them drinks or have illegal substances, don't count on it. don't get me wrong, i've met a "few" cool people there. there is actually one band i saw there for the first time that I am currently working with. drinks are really expensive, bartenders are only nice to you if they KNOW you, and the clientele walk around acting like their excrement doesn't stink. sorry, just NEVER had a good experience (except the once) at this bar. so just walk past it into the whiskey, the viper, the roxy, the rainbow, the key club, ANYWHERE
Sunset Strip's bridge between the all-ages crowd at the Whisky and veteran hair-bangers at Rainbow..
In Short
Walls tattooed with orange and red flames provide an infernal backdrop for purebred rockers who work the crowd of big hair '80s-era graduates. A leopard-print carpeted stage and matted glossies of Catwoman play on a kitschy feline theme, an assumed homage to the club's owner, Stray Cats' drummer Slim Jim Phantom. Shiny scaffolding and camera-ready set lighting betray a recent makeover by reality TV show, "Monster House," but the scuffed hardwood floors preserve the club's authentic heritage.
Cool small venue. I saw my friend's friend's relatively unknown band there. It was sort of like a high school show- sound and lighting weren't that good. The gin and tonics are super strong though! Fun crowd and decor, but definitely would be cramped for a bigger band.
Worth the drive from San Diego. It was very and cool. I likes the vibe, it had an edge without being hostile. There were unbelievably hot women.
Andras Jones' Performance @ The Cat Club. The Cat Club is always a fun place to see new and established artists performing. This cozy venue has a great atmosphere for music, the club is centrally located in the middle of all the happening LA clubs on Sunset Blvd. Andras Jones will be performing at The Cat Club on Friday, August 2 at 8pm, with special guest Anya Marina. For a great night of original pop/folk/rock live music, the Cat Club is the place to be! Andras is an experienced performer who always puts on a great show! You'll find his music intriguing, thought provoking, energetic, and full of creativity!
8. The band Room 16 is the best band I ever seen at the club. The were exciting, spontaneous and worked well with the crowd. It was like The Grateful Dead getting funky.
Tiny but cool. The place is tiny, but every time I've been there I've seen some phenomenal musicians. Get there early to grab some of the limited seating. No seats at the bar (what is it with LA and no freaking bar stools!). Maybe Axl will stop by again (this is the only place he's sung at in forever).
