Infuriatingly Over-Priced and Unsatisfying. On a Sunday night, everything else in Santa Monica was booked, so we decided to give this place a try. Here's what my girlfriend and I ordered: (1) Two Glasses of Clos du Bois Chardonnays. (2) Grilled Salmon w. Teriyaki Sauce - overcooked and unoriginal. (3) Alaskan Cod served on a bean platter - very bland and unappetizing. I didn't even finish. (4) Lava Cake - tasty but not spectacular.... Total bill, pre-tip: $98 + a valet of $8.50 = $106.50.

The bread served was below average, and we did not finish it. The food did not ring of French cuisine.

Not to forget, this place is a hotel restaurant. The carpet decor looks like a hotel hallway. The music rung of a hotel lobby. The decor was tacky. The tables were too high. And the dining room was too brightly lit. This was not in any way a romantic setting.

Overall the experience and meal was nothing short of disappointing and over-priced. I would not recommend Cesanne to anybody, let alone admit to having dined there.

Dry bread. Small portions. Average food. Good dessert. Orphaned, half-eaten roll.. We came here for the DineLA special, which provided a three-course meal for $34. I had the lobster bisque for the first course, while my friend had the wild mushroom spring roll. Both were average. We both had the petite filet for the main course, which were tasty and properly cooked but, alas, petite. The sides were also small in portion (two asparagus stalks, for example). Only the desserts lived up to expectation. The chocolate raspberry truffle cake was appropriately rich, while the tiramisu appropriately light and delicate. We also both had a glass of wine (a pinot noir and a merlot) that were pretty flavorful ($11/glass). Overall, the value still wasn't there, even with the special. The biggest disappointment was the bread, which was dried out enough to make me suspect it to be day-old. Decor was adequate; service was cold but professional. They claimed to be out of steak knives for some reason. (How do you run out of utensils?) Also, there was a plate with a half-eaten roll at our table when we arrived, which stayed there for about 15 min. Yet another disappointment on a Friday night, when you expect a restaurant to be at its best. I recommend you look elsewhere for fine dining and/or good food.

Inside Santa Monica's Le Merigot Hotel, this comfortable French-Cali eatery hosts hotel guests, spagoers and weekend brunchers looking for sunny, beachfront vistas.. In Short
Le Merigot's serene dining room is filled with pale, plush fabrics and gleaming woods. Some nights feature a pianist playing smooth jazz, but it can get a bit loud if the room is empty. Chef Desi Szonntagh's layers of seasonal ingredients come fresh from the Farmer's Market and delicate sauces add French flare to the mostly California-inspired cuisine. Surefire starters include crab cakes chockfull of delicate meat and tender shrimp, and the black truffle Mac and cheese with lobster and a crispy crust. Entrees run the gamut from rack of lamb to Dover sole and Chicken Paillard. Desserts include a luscious chocolate molten cake with homemade pistachio ice cream and a simple creme brulee.

good food, good time. I read about Cezanne on Citysearch and decided to take my parents and a friend for dinner. I wasn't expecting too much, but we were happy with everything after all. The menu looked not so extraordinary (they even have mac 'n cheese!) but what we had were all tasty. One thing I have to mention is service. Our waiter was rather quiet but had a very pleasant attitude. While we were having main dish, I had to take a phone call and went out side of the restaurant. When I came back, I found that he took my plate and put it back into an oven to keep it warm. I thought that was very nice. Careful with appetizer order: all food come with generous portions unlike "french".

Romance and good food. My boyfriend and I consider Cezanne "our place" because its the first really nice resturant we went to together. The food is always great with beautiful presentation. The service is inpeccable.

We went there for Valentine's Day and had a lovely time. Including being given a rose and a small box of godiva chocolate.

Cezanne is good at anytime though.

Good Stuff. We ate Cezanne because there was a special offer online (buy 1 entree get 1 free). Everything was good...the food was good and the service was good. I didn't feel that there was anything extremely extraordinary about either one though. Overall, it was a good dinner, but probably not one that I'll be a regular at.

Great dessert; Exceptional service. We read about Cezanne on Citysearch and decided to stop by for a French dessert. The hotel is very elegant; the restrooms in the lobby outside of the restaurant had perfume liquid hand soap, hand lotion, and hand towels instead of paper. Very nice! We were walk-ins with no reservation, so we decided to ask for a chocolate souffle to go. Our waiter, Alberto, persuaded us to consume the souffle there and seated us at a table in the patio. Nice touch for just a dessert order. Alberto brought us ice water and complete, dinner plates and utensils while the souffle was being prepared. When he brought out the souffle, he even cut it, poured vanilla sauce and put whip cream on top. The souffle was heavenly beyond description. So was Alberto's service. I still can't believe all that service for just a dessert order. I highly recommend Cezanne!

Valentines Day Dinner. Went there for a 7:30 reservation and was seated promptly. Ordered the duck and the beef filet from the prix-fixe menu and it was prepared to perfection! When I asked the host where the restroom was, she walked me there, and even the valet brought out a long-stemmed rose for my girlfriend. The price was a little steep ($25 corkage, standard 18% gratuity), but my girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience altogether.

My local favorite.. While I love this restaurant, I hope it remains a well-kept secret. There are few places in Santa Monica that offer this level of service, quality of food and beautiful setting....all at a reasonable price.

Fantastic Food & View. I always thought of hotel food as a necessary amenity for hotel travelers. But, Cezanne at the Le Merigot Hotel really changed my mind, not only is the food worth coming back the servers are in love with service. Much applause to all the staff there!!!
