The Scene
If Duke's were any closer to the Pacific, it would cease being a beach bar and start being, well, very wet. When the tide is in, waves crash just a few feet away from the bar. Patio tables sit on a triangle of Malibu Beach and invite patrons to dig their feet in the sand while sipping a drink and watching the sunset. For more action, take a seat at the polished teak bar where as much attention is focused on the scenery inside as out.
The Draw
Laid-back locals and tourists share the view. Guys sport Hawaiian shirts and sunglasses while gals wear spaghetti straps and sandals. Toast Duke Kahanamoku, granddaddy of surfing and patron saint of the establishment, with a rum-laced mai tai or a pineapple-crowned blue Hawaiian.

Lazy afternoons at the Barefoot Bar are my favorite part of spring. Since they changed the glass enclosure around the outdoor bar it's much more pleasant but we still prefer the bar indoors. Whether we're there to watch a game on tv or the dolphins outside, we always have a great time. Nothing beats the tuna poke rolls but the crab wontons are great, too. Their mai tais are the best but it's still fun to explore the rest of the drink menu.

Duke's Barefoot Bar is a great place to go if you want a quick burger or a long delicious dinner by the water. My family and I recently had a great experience there over the holidays. I will definitly go back. Great staff, great food, amazing view.
