great service, great grill food, love mexican options, great location, favorite meal, great price, terrible stinks
Great Food....Great Price... Great place to take friends. I've been going to Joe's for many years. The food is reasonably priced and I am never disappointed. There are about three dishes I always choose from. The Artichoke Chicken is amazing. The Skirt Steak with blue cheese and grilled onions is also exceptional. It's a friendly place and like your favorite down home cafe. You can sit at the counter and watch your meal being made. Every guest that I have taken to Joe's has come away very happy.
Hands Down Best Breakfast in Westside!. When you start your day at Joe's, you can count on it being a great day. My fav: Huevos Rancheros with Chorizo and the Ritchie's Special always pleases.
Great casual diner on Main Street.
I was hungry after I visited The Beys Garden spa next door for a massage (also excellent!!!), and loved the appeal of Joe's.
It's a true diner- servers who DONT have headshots, counter seating, and meals under 10$. I found it so authentic and rare in a city thats overgrown with corporate chain restaurants.
I now visit Joe's almost every week with my friends who live behind it. The service is always great, the food comes out quickly and it's great.
Editorial Review. This sidewalk cafe offers casual dining, home cooking and lots of people watching on Santa Monica's bustling Main Street.
Don't waste your time and money!. I've been to places that I've felt were overpriced but this place takes the cake. Horrible! I even tried giving it another chance recently and now it's been renamed to Joe's Grill advertising fine wines and great grill food. Are you kidding me!?!? How pretentious and unable to nail it's mark. At least before when it was a diner your expectations were lower (until you saw the prices). If you're really that hungry that you need to eat in this place make sure the owner isn't there. Obnoxious, loud, and won't leave people alone. Good luck!
Nice place, but avoid the Friday fish special. I live near Joe's and eat there once a month or so. Always really friendly service, but last two times I ate there I got the Friday fish special and had gastrointestinal issues shortly thereafter. I've had other dishes there with out problem, but both times the fish sent me running for the bathroom an hour later. Too bad, I like the place but twice is more then a coincidence. They must be hiding something in that butter sauce.
Best breakfast in town- great service too!. I go here every morning with my best friend after our Core Fusion class...as a big breakfast fan, this is my favourite meal of the week- I always get an omlett, and it's always loaded with more avocado than anywhere I've EVER been. The prices are completely fair for the quality- everything is real- real maple syup, real butter, organic coffee....it's not "health" food, it's real food- a little more more European in the cooking philosophy, but this is a true all-American diner, and the service is great too.
Good food and great service. Good food with the greatest waiters in town. This is a definate local's place and they take care of us and keep the coffee coming.
Diner food, only better. This place looks like a classic diner so you'll be surprised to find some more refined options on the menu. I love their chicken dishes and their Mexican options, and my husband always get the steak with blue cheese and peppercorns, it's really good and a great price. I've only been here for dinner so can't testify as to the breakfast or lunch options, but dinner is great. And the service is really good, too.
Rip off!!!. I looked on citysearch to find a new place for breakfast and came across Joe's diner which received good reviews. YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!! $8.35 for bacon and eggs. Let me rephrase. $8.35 for AVERAGE bacon and eggs. My husband and I had bacon and eggs, plain coffee and 1/2 fruit platter for low price of $28.00. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't mind paying 30 bucks for a fantastic breakfast. This was not the case. This was your average diner food. We paid $6.30 for a half of a fruit plate and the rinds were still on all the fruit. Am I the only one who gets sick of paying Santa Monica prices? Come on people, traffic is terrible, parking stinks and then you pay through the nose for average food. I am done with it. Joes was totally overrated.
