Great place to go for a late night, early morning meal.
Perfect for late night sobering up food. Menu has pictures to help those who aren't familiar with korean food. Great for people watching.
One of the best late night spots, order up a bowl of soon tofu and enjoy the warmth. Recommend you go with the pork!
Avoid everyway possible! If you live longer. – I can't believe my eyes today when I saw an article about this restaurant on LA Times.
This rest. had been suspended for 1 month last year for dirty kitchen. There were 14 health violations and you will not believe how they've operated that restaurant.
The shocking one was some of employees washed the floor mob in the sink with the bowls that serving the topu soup! In addition, they put too much MSG in it so then later make people sleepy after eating the topu soup. Most important thing is she (the owner) never announced some kind of sorry to the customers even they didn't put a note on theirs windows. (just saying parking lot repavement)...immoral ......
Don't even think to go there and eat!!!! be aware!
AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!!! simply NOT worth it!!!! – We drive by this place a lot and always wanted to try. The reviewer below says "stop whining..that this is not fine dining'..I'm fairly sure that anyone driving by that would know that much from the get go.- we had the right expectations, quite simply, those were not met. Service, was poor they really do not go out of their way to help you order.. Decor: drab, tacky which is always forgiveable if the food is GOOD!! The dirty.bus "cart" they use is like something out of a cafeteria and they cart it by you ever so snuggly and then leave it right next to your table while they are clearing..for everyone to look at while they are eating..they don't get that people don't want to see and hear and smell ugly, dirty, dishes coming right by your table..YUK! Price.. we had one item and shared since we just didnt think this type of food and atmosphere commanded the asking price..for 2.. which would've been like 35-$40 without tip! I think it was a "weekend price" too which made no sense at all..so we basically paid $16 for the all those things that they serve with every meal.. like cheap, dried out fried fish. potato salad..? the staples like kimchi and other forgettable items.. the chicken used for the teriaki was that.. "cheap chinese food dark meat".. so, for $16 we got an order of crappy teriaki. The only thing I liked was the steamed tofu in the broth they bring along side.. sorry, but steamed tofu in broth is not the hardest thing in the world to accomplish (for those of you who think this place is "exotic".. Oh and I almost forgot, they have this practice of coming by, no explanations or asking or even attempting to let you in on what they are doing..and add water to your rice container.. I assumed it was to make sure the rice doesnt stick and dry to the sides of the container thus another cleaning.. so your left with watered down rice.. I saw the locals that accepted this practice..but at least give me a choice? Just not worth a trip back or to.
WORST MEAL OF MY LIFE! – This is the nastiest excuse for food I have ever experienced. The food had NO flavor and was way too hot to eat. The atmosphere was not very pleasant. I realize this isn't supposed to be fine dining, but this is definately at the bottom of the fast food, chain restaurant barrel. I wouldn't go back if was the last place on earth. I don't even want to give it one star, but this website forces you to pick a rating
Great Food, Slow Service – I'm always up for BCD Tofu House and being open 24 hours, it's always available. This place is the first that pops in my mind when no one can (or will) decide where to eat. The food always satisfies (beef bulgogi with tofu is my favorite) though picky eaters might not be (seafood in the tofu - but you can ask for it without, fish "appetizers", kimchi) . Parking is always available. The only issue is the incredibly slow service, it took more than 15 minutes to get our check and even then, we just went up to the desk to pay. The food is worth it, though the service is usually a miss.
Editorial Review – Quick service, sit-down Korean eatery attracts office workers, late-night diners with traditional menu items like hot tofu dishes, bibimbap, bulgogi.
the most wholesome korean food – dont expect to be pampered. ur not paying enuf to have the wait staff kiss ur butt n pour you wine. leave ur whining at home. this place is all about the food. service is fast n quick and you'll feel healthier as you leave the door. no BS - just good wholesome organic korean food to detox ur body.
The WORST & DIRTIEST 24-hr RESTAURANT IN WILSHIRE BLVD!!!! – PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE. They have the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Is it because the servers do not speak English and couldnt understand you or just choose to simply ignore customer requests? Only the owners know perhaps. They have the most unhygienic way of serving water (they almost dipped their fingers into the glass of water that i requested). Please check the counter where they have that dirty way of putting ice cubes to an empty glass- you will know that i am indeed telling the truth! Rule number2: Please do not get your check right away.... the moment that you pay your bill, these unethical servers simply cleans away your table without even asking your permission, esp when they see that there are people waiting to get your seat. Ooopppsss...pls take a closer look at the Seafood soup that you ordered, a strand of hair might be sitting on top of the tofu itself! Yaaiiikkkkkssss!
This place is not what it's cracked up to be – I went to BCD on Sat. after a night of clubbing and this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Now I know 24 hour Asian places are not known for wonderful service, but this night service was just horrible. They never brought us water and the tofu took forever! I think they forgot about our table because I saw at least three other tables that were seated after us get their food before us. I've really tried to like this place but I'd much rather go to Hodori or Denny's. The tofu isn't even that good, but I do like the rice. I just don't think it's worth all the stress to eat here.
The Best – Of all the tofu houses I have tried, BCD is the most pungent and flavorful of them all. Their quality is still present despite them being a chain/franchise. I had the seaweed soon tofu which had a lot of seaweed in it. The second time I went I had the bibimbap which I do not reccomend. You should just stick with the tofu. Don't be fooled by the big crowd waiting outside, customers are in an out really quick. Parking is really good too which is odd for Koreatown.
Korean IHOP~ – I love korean BBQ and all side dishes, soon tofu is also my lover. I like everything there, normal, simple, tasty. This place is my favorite 24 hours always same good taste. It's absolutely not the best place, but it good enough for that price(you pay what you get!)
