Editorial Review for Chin Chin – by Stephanie L. Smith
In Short
Perched in hip enclaves all over town, the white umbrellas of its patios make a welcome watering hole for locals. The "Dim Sum & Then Sum" combination is what put them on the map. Select three half-orders from a repertoire of dim sum staples, salads and entrees for less than the price of a martini at Skybar. The tangy Chinese chicken salad is its signature, but the jade salad, with pickled ginger shrimp, mandarin oranges and baby spinach, is a unique choice.

For a few years I are once in a while at Chin Chin, the Brentwood one, the Sunset Plaza, Studio City... Well, never ever again. I would allow myself to see heinous food handling practives and kind of overlook it. You can see plenty for yourself... check it out as their kitchens are usually in full view. Push came to shove when I found a huge ball of steel wool in my Anthony's Noodles. That can be deadly. And the kicker? They handled it terribly. I called, nobody ever called me back. I have photos I sent them, no response. It was easy to overlook strange crossover items like shrimp in my beef and noodles in my rice but steel wool? Gross. They seem to employ according to a strategy of save the most money possible. Avoid Chin Chin, results can be deadly.
Pros: Moderately inexpensive, consistent.
Cons: Steel wool in noodles, food crossover, often smells like a college bar.
