great margarita, excellent place
Count on this cantina for cheap drinks, inexpensive food and a spot to watch the game..
In Short
Owing mostly to its location, a half a block off Rodeo Drive, this Beverly Hills branch is distinctly more upscale than others in the chain. In place of the typical hand-painted murals of old Mexico, this one sports a towering wall of mirrors and tequila crowned with a metallic cow skull. Blenders whirl, TVs tune into the game and tent cards tell all about tonight's specials.
Worst manager ever. We're done here. Went on a Friday at 5; bar area packed; one couple in the huge dining area. Could we sit in the first table adjacent to the bar until anyone started showing up for dinner? Absolutely not, said the manager, who seemed to take real macho delight in letting us know that he was truly in charge. We went up the street to a chinese retaurant, drank for an hour at the bar, and then ran a $1100 dinner tab for our out-of-town clients. If El Torioto had a great margarita, I'd be bummed. As it is I'm glad we kept our Canadian clients.
