The Scene – With thatched umbrellas, photos of crashing waves, stuffed toucans and a soundtrack of twangy '60s surf-rock, it doesn't take a genius to figure out this chain's theme. Yep, it's beach, burgers and plenty of kitsch. The jovial atmosphere and service (not to mention a full-service bar) lures lunching business folk, beer-drinking college students and families with food-throwing toddlers. – – The Food – Like the decor, the menu is a no-brainer--sandwiches, salads, fries and burgers. Served in a basket with fork and knife, thick beef patties come grilled to…

  1. Sure, the parking is underground and handled by valets, but to me it's worth it for a big drippy burger, a trough of those delicious fries, and an hour away from the office with someone I treasure.

  1. Poor food quality + poor customer service = never returning.
  2. It allows people from all ages to gather and have some good food while relaxing and watching T.V. Their theme

PARKING NIGHTMARE

by CA90017

It tool 29 minutes to get a salad, fries and soft tacos with the restaurant at less about 50% full. But that could be a bad night. The big problem is parking. AAMPCO is the parking company and they charged $2.50 per 15 min, even with validation if you stay a min over 90. They don't only charge you the difference, but they charge you that on the whole time. What a disgrace. Not to mention that they hide the extra cost in fine print on the wall behind the operator's desk and they don't provide Valet that they charge for. So, expect to pay a lot, 2 cars about $40 for parking if you stay longer eating and chatting. By the way, ignore all the valet signs, they are there to charge you oodles of money for just parking to go to a low end establishment for a soft taco. SHAME on you AAMPCO, how deceiving.

  • Cons: food takes too long/ Parking will cost more than the meal

please reconsider this location

They brought out tomatoes that tasted as if they were old and no good with our garden salad. And when we asked the waiter to replace the salad because of the tomatoes, he asked if we wanted a new salad WITHOUT tomatoes. I said no, with tomatoes that AREN'T horrible. So he brought out another side garden salad...with tomatoes on the side....that were still bad. Poor food quality + poor customer service = never returning.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: pay parking, poor food and customer service quality

Get Ranch with the Fries!

by breakbeat_addict

I'm a fan of the Islands restaurants from way back, and since my company recently moved to a more downtown-centric part of Los Angeles, I needed a familiar place to take away the tension of our new surroundings. Voila... enter Islands in Beverly Hills. Sure, the parking is underground and handled by valets, but to me it's worth it for a big drippy burger, a trough of those delicious fries, and an hour away from the office with someone I treasure. Take a date kids, there's something oddly romantic about paper mache toucans and sky-blue ceiling fans...

  • Pros: Great food, 'Tom Green' waiter
  • Cons: Parking isn't cheap, High-traffic area

Great Place to Hang Out

by py_galore

My first experience at Islands was a great one, a friend took me there and suggested on the tea and I got to say its one of the best I've tasted in a long time. Now as far as for food, I loved it. Friendly people, good service and I'm sorry but the food is great!!! Good price for a good amount.
