What Our Expert Scouts Say

The home of the ultimate deluxe burger -- don't even think of asking for substitutions.

Gourmet burger heaven!. I love Father's Office's burger. And you better love everything they put on it because there's no substitutions. It's a heart-unhealthy mix of specially ground beef (secret blend!), blue cheese, bacon and onions. Sooo good! The sweet potato fries are amazing as well, and come in a cute little shopping cart. There's always a crowd, so get there early. At least you don't have to be a table vulcher anymore. The downside is that you have to wait in line to get in, so you can't have one of their great beers or a glass of wine while you are waiting (wine list isn't bad, not a full bar). You order at the bar and they bring the food to you.

Tips for Father's Office

Stay AWAY. While waiting in line outside my wife needed to use the bathroom. The doorman refused. He was worried that she would not come out. Really? And leave her husband outside? I have never been to a restaurant that did not allow customers waiting for a table to use their bathrooms? Have you? The door dude (Can't even call him a man) would not even get a manager. Stay away just on the principle of it. Their are plenty of great burgers around. Go where they treat people with respect and dignity.

Best burger in the universe, and a fantastic beer selection.

This place is packed for reason, the burgers rock, but you can't make any modifications. Order at the bar. Thoughtful beer and wine lists.

Ok burger, Ok bar.. It's not bad, but not what I'd expected. I went there because my girl friend chose the place and wanted to try it out, and to be honest, I wouldn't go on my own or invite someone there for a burger.

luke warm. This place is a bit overated. They make a decent burger. To be honest I expected more from all the hype I've been hearing from it. I've had better burgers for less money and less wait time, but hey it was still a good burger.

A place you can feel.... Ignored.. So, I've been going here, on and off, for about 8 years now. When it's empty, it can be quite a delightful place to be. They have a decent "gastropub-eqsue" burger. However, when the dragon's den is teeming with yuppies and beerheads, there's no place on Earth I'd rather NOT be (except maybe the Apple store; an experience I'd forfeit for a brain stroke any day).

To their credit, the beer selection exceeds most people expectations, and their fries are second to none. However, when you've been waiting at the bar for fifteen minutes, in a sea of people, unrecognized by the bar steward, and some random "regular" customer walks in and gets a pint poured before his second foot enters the door, you feel like stabbing the barkeep. I hate nothing more than a bar that regards favoritism as a trademark. If you aren't on a first-name basis at this place, don't go when it is busy - you WILL regret it.

With the introduction of a second Father's Office in Culver City, there IS hope for a decent experience during the evening. I've yet to go to find out. I refuse to return to this place during busy hours unless it's on someone else's tab and I don't have to brave the brutish crowd of drunks to get a proper pint.

Be advised: if you DO go during a crowded time and insist on a pint or two, get a pitcher, so you don't have to return to the bar for a while.

Fathers Office 2nd Best Local Burger near the beach. I have been a Fathers Office Burger fan for years however, I have recently discovered LA's NEW BEST BURGER at Joni's Coffee Roaster Cafe in Marina del Rey. It's called "THE RODFATHER BURGER"....A Whipped Horseradish burger on a warmed homemade pretzel bun. This is a must and the word is spreading fast.....

My father's legal office has better taste.. After reading all the hype on Father's Office, and being a beer and burger lover, naturally I had to make an appointment. I rode my bike and was eager to drink a beer ASAP when I got there. I didn't realize I was in for a 20 minute debate between bartenders as to which beer they thought I would like best. I love knowledgeable people and I respect their opinions however, while I was sitting thirsty and ready for a cool beer to quench my thirst...I never thought I'd cry out for a Bud Light just to shut the bartenders up!

It was as if showing off their Beer philosophies was more important than actually serving the beer. Now it's not just the Great Beer Debate that made my visit less than enjoyable, I felt like a pod person when I asked for Ketchup!! The lady looked at me as if there weren't a burger and a plate in fries in front of me. They DON'T HAVE KETCHUP??!

As for the Burger...you better like it because there is only one option and it doesn't come with ketchup or mustard.

I have many a burgers and many a beers. I'd say if you are looking for great food, great beer, and a fun ambience- forget the office and head to Santa Monica's Library Alehouse.
