What People Are Saying About Gallery Bar

In Short – From the overstuffed furniture to the de rigueur oak paneling, the Gallery Bar oozes with the grandeur of yesteryear's Los Angeles. Nestled in the bosom of the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel, it's warmed by honey-colored chandeliers and a hand-painted Italian Renaissance ceiling. Small touches lend a casual flair, rendering this potentially snobbish establishment warm and inviting. Hushed and refined, it's the perfect downtown spot to unwind. – –

Downtown Mystique

Went one night to hear some live jazz and sip some whiskey. Ornate and stately room, but the acoustics are terrible for jazz. The Millennium Biltmore Hotel is historic and beautifully designed all throughout. Check out the historic corridor en route to the restrooms -- pictures of some of the early Academy Awards Ceremonies held at the hotel. The place feels like The Shining -- in a good way. Good place to try if you're downtown and want an interesting experience. I will definitely go back.
Glamour and Mystery

This is the most elegant bar in LA. The beautiful billiards table is often empty. The bartenders exude civility and make superb drinks. There's always someone interesting at the bar. I've had the pleasure of sharing a drink with consulate personnel and once a prime minister. Sit at the bar and imagine the Black Dahlia having one last drink before she disappears........
- Pros: comfy for solo girl, serendipitous, good after work crowd
- Cons: often empty
